Picked up a lightly used 2018 GT2 last week and have been lurking on this message board ever since. Even ordered a couple things from Sal. I wanted this car when I was buying my Sonata a couple years ago but didn’t want to spend the $50k+. So I waited a couple years and got a decent deal that fit my budget.

Love the car and can’t wait to start modifying/personalizing it to make it mine. Not looking to go crazy with it, but I’ve first got to correct some issues left over from the prior owner. 1. Center console is all nicked up (part ordered). 2. 3 out of the 4 rims have curb rash (appt scheduled to refurbish the stock rims). 3. Manuals and rear cargo cover are missing (hoping that the dealer can contact the prior owner to get back). 4. Need to peel off the 30-40% tint and retint it with dark 20% tint. 5. All weather floor mats (part ordered). 6. General maintenance: Replace all the air filters and window wipers.

Sounds good. Welcome to the forum. How many miles did it have when you got it? What color?

What kind of shape are your tires in? Is this an 18" AWD or staggered rims? I got c. that many miles out of my rear Michelins, and over 22K out of the front tires (they are getting replaced, probably tomorrow).

I have Bridgestone Potenzas on it. AWD w all the same 18” all around. The tires seems to be in decent shape. My guess is the prior owner hit one of these lovely Indiana pot holes and bent the rim. They got it replaced as well as replaced all of the tires. Just wish they would have replaced all the other rims since they are so curb rashed. The reason I can tell the rim is new 1. It’s flawless unlike the other 3 rims. 2. The TPMS sensor is slightly different and has a different type of valve stem cap.

You can't expect the dealer to replace curb rashed rims: these things are at least $630 apiece!? How bad is "so curb rashed"? Because you can sand the rash down and polish it out with 2000 grit wet-dry sandpaper (use lots of water); and from five, six feet away, your eye passes right over the sanded spots (ask me how I know :P).

Yeah, I know they wouldn’t replace them. Honestly, I didn’t notice it until I got the car home. I got scheduled in next week with an alloy wheel repair place. $150/wheel to put it right. Sucks, but I’m a perfectionist and I can’t stand looking at that rash. Pics have been loaded of the rash.

, that isn't just curb rash, that is a catastrophe. Good that $150 apiece will set you straight. Money well spent, imho. You could gripe to the dealer and see if they will share some of that. Happy customers are an investment, to any savvy dealer. Won't get anything out of them if you don't try.

This dealer is not the greatest (Napleton Kia of Fishers). They are all about getting your $$$. Called them up to get the two engine air filters and in cabin air filter. They wanted like $49 each. I laughed at them and ordered up those parts at Smithtown Kia in TX. Even with the shipping they were only like $60 shipped to the house. Tried to get a center console trim out of the dealer in the deal since the one in it is all nicked up. They quoted me $650 for the part so they wanted me to split the cost. I looked it up on Smithtown and it was $200ish. I had them cancel that part and ordered up from Smithtown and I’ll install myself. Kind of done with this dealer. They really are horrible.

Bummer, then. You're on your own. That's a good price to fix that much damage. You'll be very satisfied you did. There is no way on earth that I could live with that either.
