Will you update?

@vipeboy2000 Thanks for the heads up. Just checked the site few days ago.

Reviewing the changelog, does not appear anything significant or even worthwhile other than map updates. Will revisit in 6 months :).
yea... i'll still do it this weekend... just want to make sure i stay up to date... seeing my family's palisade and telluride take 3+ hours to do an update cause they were behind was not something i want to experience... i'm not sure if it's still the case but it sure seemed like keeping up to date keeps the update time shorter.

I checked Mapcare and it doesn't appear to be for the 2018 GT2. Is that true?

Why does the maintenance progress reset to zero when updating nav/audio software.

I didn't do an oil change, but suddenly the maintenance screen has been reset.

Good thing the smaller console screen in the instrument cluster doesn't reset with the audio system.

stop complaining ... at least you can ADJUST the service interval! unless that changed in the update, my '22 does not let you adjust it (greyed out, defaults at 6000 miles if i remember right ...)

Completed my update. My last system update was 11-10-2021. I decided to wait for a few updates to come out before taking all that time. Plus I sold a house, moved halfway across the country, bought a house, and that has taken a lot of my time.

Took ~18 mins in total.

This can be adjusted by the dealers. They can block access and preset a fixed interval or let you adjust your own interval. Ask them next time you visit.

if its up to me, i'll never be visiting the dealer :D warranty work would be the only reason ...

Hmm. Hoping it will fix my nav unit zooming off on its own walkabout at random times. The current location icon will just start zipping across the countryside for no reason. Doesn't happen all the time. That's why I usually use CarPlay and Apple Maps instead.

describe this more, please. what are you actually seeing when your location icon 'zips'?

The little circle crosshair icon showing your present location on the nav screen will just start tracking rapidly across the country and keep beeping annoyingly as it tries to recalculate a route. This is done without any input from me. It will still alert me to an upcoming turn, as well as the final destination, but for some reason, my car sometimes thinks I'm somewhere that I'm obviously not. If it happened every time, I'd take it to be serviced, but it's intermittent. I'll do the update when I get the chance and then see if it still happens. If it does, I'll try to capture video of it.

what navigation mode do you use? 3d or top view? fixed location or north on top? this is the weirdest sounding thing. your description puts 'remote connection' in mind, when someone remotely connects to your computer and starts moving your cursor around clicking on things.

yea it does... or possibly phantom touches on the screen.. i know some have had that issue.

I experienced something similar driving across Indiana a couple of years ago in my '18. According to the nav I was plowing through corn fields and for a while. It very much seemed to correspond with a very thick cloud cover.

now that we've talked about this for a while, it jogs a vestigial memory of seeing the same thing on a road trip. I think it happened once and was a phenomenon. just the electronics being influenced by something local to place and time and not repeated, thus, forgotten.

Happened again this morning. It definitely was not cloudy, so that's not a potential cause. I have not yet updated the firmware. This is a screen shot from the video I took, but I can't post videos to this forum unless it's a web host with a URL. In the 30 second video, the distance jumps from the 15.2 miles shown here to over 42 miles away. The Stinger is fast, but not that fast! What's most annoying is the multiple beeps every second as it updates. I've no idea where it's going or if it would ever stop. I did not have my phone connected and was just listening to the radio, which I could still hear (between the beeps). At least I have evidence if I ever take it to the dealership.
