^^Not going to fit 40GB worth of files to a 32GB stick.
is that what the downloads total now? how will older model years incorporate the upgrades going forward, since they all use the 32gb sd card?

^^Switch to a 64gb card? Maybe the older vehicles have a smaller update size?

Not trying to shoot suggestions down, but like others have said, the update size is over 32GB and the size limit of FAT32 is 32GB. ExFAT is also the format the Navigation Update tool applies.

^^Better refresh your fat32 knowledge. Fat32 can handle partitions up to 2TB, and files sizes up to 4GB.

Last time I did an update (may or june of '22), I formatted a 64GB flash drive to fat32, copied the files over, then applied update in the car.

I used rufus to format it - Rufus - Create bootable USB drives the easy way

(: I am mistaken. I let the tool do the driving and it gave me ExFAT, but I will do a manual FAT32 format and copy.

Two things that drove home my confusion: 1) Windows built-in formatting only offers ExFAT or NTFS. 2) The Navigation Updater explicitly specifies ExFAT. (I was going to post a screenshot, but I am too new. 2018-2021 Stingers are SD Card and FAT32, 2022-2023 are USB and ExFAT ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ )

Nevertheless - I have formatted to FAT32 w/ Rufus and will attempt again tomorrow.

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...
The USB update cars aka the 2022+stingers and telluride's etc has called for a 64 gig USB flash drive while the sd card cars, pre facelift stingers calls for a "at least" 32gig sd card .. so I'm guess it's just smaller or at least packaged more efficiently..

The problem is, it doesn't matter how you format the USB stick prior to using the Software updater. The Software updater will reformat the USB stick exfat regardless of what the current format is. With that said, I believe there's a way with the updater you can tell it to just download the files to a location on your computer (don't plug in the USB stick when you launch the updater), then copy the files to the USB stick. Can always try to format the stick Fat32, then copy the files over manually to the stick.

As for the USB stick size. I've been using a 128GB SanDisk stick without issues. Might want to try a different stick if it's giving you problems.

Okay, so updated today without a problem, except for it taking too long and possibly going through the update twice (?). I used a different 128GB SanDisk formatted as FAT32 w/ Rufus and manually copied. Not 100% if the fix was the format or the USB drive, but it worked!

I kicked off the update and was working on my other car so I can finally get rid of it, and when I finally got to a stopping point, my Stinger was going through what looked like the update initalization again. I wasn't watching closely, so not sure if it ran through the whole thing or what. But watched it like a hawk for a LONG time (like well over an hour), and everything seemed to turn out good. It was a good day for the Stinger.. got a bath and an update! :)

Thanks for all the help!

Yeah it usually takes a while. At least it does for me. Every time I've done it, it's usually taken right about an hour.

I had to manually partition my 64 GB sdcard to have one 32-GB partition before my '19 Stinger GT1 would accept it. It just doesn't like anything larger. I haven't seen it run out of space before - where are you getting 40 GB from? I applied the fall update, and it fit just fine into 32 GB.

You sir made me hunt for this post... Found it!

Looks like it's only for European countries from what I'm reading "The latest OTA technology is available for all MY22 Kia models and all subsequent models in countries that support Kia Connect across Europe."

Hm, looks like they just added charging stations. Pfft.

@vipeboy2000 Thanks for the heads up. Just checked the site few days ago.

Reviewing the changelog, does not appear anything significant or even worthwhile other than map updates. Will revisit in 6 months :).

I'm still crying after the 2020 map design. You could see the sky, the colours were so clean, it was showing live traffic delays on the main screen, the fonts... it was so nice!
