New JB4 Stinger Dyno Results!

Is it safe to assume that at current level (stock turbos, etc.), pump gas+WMI is probably more going to be an alternative to ethanol blends than an upgrade? I know I keep asking the same question in different ways if you're annoyed with me by now...….

I'm currently building up a GT2 AWD and have easy access to Ethanol. I'm just trying to decide if map7 with 30%E is going to be nearly as good as map8, then no reason for me to mess w the WMI. What about 30%E+WMI?

Ok, Ok, I'll quit asking and wait for the numbers now...….

On higher E85 mixtures and higher boost levels, fuel pressure is crashing. So in the extreme cases with E85 mixtures, (those looking to break records, for example), it will be an upgrade. And for those doing lots of back to back or longer runs, the IAT reduction is a nice upgrade. For the average customer who runs map3 on E30 never more than 1/4 mile. Might be a wash. We'll see.

Good news on WMI gains. Looks like a similar piggyback was able to get another 25HP at same boost levels by just adding WMI.

Would you possibly know how they’re gaining more power with WMI without pushing more boost? Supposedly they aren’t leaning out the A/F ratios so I’m curious where all that extra power is coming from? I assume the JB4 could do the same, correct?

Lower IATs = cooler air = denser air = more air in the same volume = more power.

WMI adds power by increasing octane which allows more timing advance & boost, cooling down the intake charge, and lowers EGT.

I know all you purists have the RWD, but anybody out there running the JB4 on AWD? Shouldn't have the issues with traction, needing boost limits, etc. What kind of 60' times and launches are possible?

I run it with AWD, on dry pavement with the tires and engine warmed up I don't have any traction issues. The tires chirp but the ECU doesn't pull power (even in map 5 or 7). This is with the 18" all season tires. I haven't experimented with the boost by gear settings because I haven't felt like it would help.

I've only done one 1/4 mile run so far, but here is a 60' time.

This is around the barrier all Stingers have been running into (1.9s 60'), RWD, AWD, stock, modded, I hope someone eventually figures out how to drop this time.

I’d like to see that too, but highly doubt that will happen unless tuners remove TCU protections/limits, or make drastic changes to gearing, final drive, etc.

The Stinger is a GT car and not intended to be a drag racer. Kia put limits on launch control RPM, etc. to protect the transmission and make sure it lasts through the whole 10yr/100k warranty.

Getting quicker 60’ times is probably a lost cause for our Stingers and best not to focus on things out of our control.

Maybe if Kia makes a “GT-S” in a few years they will incorporate aggressive launch control like the 1320 Scat Pack, but until then we just have to keep dreaming...

Maybe we just need wider tires.

Maybe we just need wider tires.

I'm on 285s and even from idle I still have NO traction with moderate acceleration. With LC I would probably spin for 20 minutes.

Full disclosure, I haven't used the JB4s boost by gear feature that should help with that.

With the amount of torque our cars make we will need some meaty ass DRs+boost by gear to get a solid launch.

Lower boost by say 5psi in first. Makes a huge improvement on our car when launching!

Sure, tons. Can post some logs & dragy slips before/after later. But, if you have traction issues, play with the settings yourself and see if it works for you. :)

If you have traction issues, sure. But I'd only do a couple psi.
I guess what I can't wrap my head around is: If RWD needs to limit boost to launch, and AWD isn't having any traction issues and doesn't need to limit boost, why are the times the same? Stricty TCU limitations on the AWD?
