I have never imagined one day I would actually consider purchasing a Kia. I recall seeing the Stinger debut about two years ago and being impressed by its stylish design and positive reviews. Then I saw the asking price for the stinger and immediately wrote off the possibility of me ever purchasing the car. Fast forward two years and I’m in need of a new vehicle. I looked at several vehicles and on a whim decided to see if there were any local Stinger GT’s for sale. I watched a review on YouTube where the guy managed to get a solid deal on a new old stock 2018 stinger gt 2 that had been sitting on a lot. Through this video I learned these vehicles weren’t selling as well as the brand had hoped. A search on the inter webs revealed there was a new 2019 Stinger GT on the opposite side of the island I live on. I figured I would inquire about the vehicle and ask if I could test drive a Stinger GT at one of the closer dealerships. I hesitantly drove down to the local Kia dealership and asked to test drive a Stinger GT. I found myself pleasantly surprised by how much I actually enjoyed driving the vehicle. After the test drive the hardest part was convincing myself to get over the fact it was a Kia. After discussing pricing with one of the salesmen and trying to come to a fair deal we finally settled on deal I felt was reasonable. My last concern I had regarding the purchase of the vehicle was its reliability and longevity. I need a vehicle that can manage hours of driving each day and survive a 100k miles. After considering the warranty the vehicle comes with I have decided to go forward with the purchase of the vehicle and take a gamble on Kia. Time will tell if Kia has truly upped their game or if they are still the same stereotypical economy car we all know them to be. I will either become a huge advocate of the brand or I will become another harsh disgruntled critic of the company. Here goes nothing.

Welcome to the hive! More than one member here has fallen victim to the test drive and buy I think you will find the consensus is the car is solid, but the dealer/service needs work, so you may need to find one that you like.

Well, I hope that you are not one of the unlucky ones. Because the Kia Stinger is not an economy car in any sense of the word. But some vehicles do have imperfections that can annoy and disappoint. I only know this because I read of their experiences here: my car has given me satisfaction for nearly two and a half years and over 36K miles; no problems and no defects. I hope that yours does too. Also, "my" dealership is professional, modern, clean and impressive. Not all Kia sales and service experiences can claim that. Kia is upping their game, but it is taking time.

Well, I hope that you are not one of the unlucky ones. Because the Kia Stinger is not an economy car in any sense of the word. But some vehicles do have imperfections that can annoy and disappoint. I only know this because I read of their experiences here: my car has given me satisfaction for nearly two and a half years and over 36K miles; no problems and no defects. I hope that yours does too. Also, "my" dealership is professional, modern, clean and impressive. Not all Kia sales and service experiences can claim that. Kia is upping their game, but it is taking time.

I must admit the local dealership I purchased the vehicle from....I was not impressed. The dealership appeared unkept and very run down.....not a place you would expect to purchase a $50k vehicle from.

You make it sound like Kia is some newby car maker, let me remind you that Kia/Hyundai reliability is stellar and they are the 5th car company on planet earth. I have driven Korean cars since the 90's with zero problems. Kia Hyundai company has in their portfolio everything from steel making, Ship vessel industries, heavy machinery and of course brands such as Kia/ Hyundai, Genesis and now the new Ioniq brand. Again you make is sound Kia is some new crappy company. Also people pay 40,000USD for a mom middle age Camry and the Stinger is Kia's Halo car so you are getting an amazing deal.

Your username reminds me of the reason I bought a Stinger GT. I was looking at purchasing a G70. The G70 is a gorgeous car. Genesis wouldn’t come down in price. Kia’s asking price with my trade in was 14k lower than Genesis. It was a no brainer for me. Now I’m in love with the Stinger GT and it doesn’t feel like I settled even though I kind of did. And yes the Koreans are making great cars. Unfortunately for us when people begin to realize how good these cars really are, the price of these cars will go up.

It’s just Kia hasn’t had the best reputation....so I am a little skeptical....my family and I are Toyota people...the wife and many others to include myself were not fond of the idea of purchasing a Kia. I’m hoping my wife doesn’t get to say she was right.

I agree, the Koreans do make awsome and very reliable cars. I'm a repeat buyer and will keep buying Kia's into the future

Then you should buy a Corolla or a middle aged woman grocery getter soccer mom hair dressed Camry of a car... Again look at reliability ratings there is no abysmal difference between Toyota and Kia/Hyundai, sure the Toyota will be little more reliable... just a little more but you will be buying a car that is driven every middle aged woman in the country, to me Japanese cars in general are too vanilla too bland too common to blah... makes me vomit because they are everywhere, too mundane too common, too nauseating. Sorry for my ranting...
