New Guy Question: Stinger versus... for lots of highway miles

Bjjpurple: I drive about 30k miles a year. I own an AWD GT. Love it. I drive 3-5 hours at a time on top of city stuff.

MarkyMark-

This is perfect...thanks for the response here. I really do want the Stinger...everything else just makes me feel...meh...when I think about it. I know it will cost a bit more in gas money, but I think it will be worth it to feel great about what I'm driving. I was just worried about how it might feel comfort-wise on long drives. This feedback is likely going to get me over the hump.

Not sure if I mentioned in my previous post.... I am 6'4" and find the seats very comfortable on very long trips. On drives from Charlotte to Pensacola (over 550 miles/9 hours) and back, when getting out to pump gas or at the end of the trip, I felt great. It was the first car that I didn't notice "being in" for that long.

I think the 2.0T Stinger get better mpg, yes?

Any thoughts or opinions to support the Stinger GT for probably a 40,000 mile per year highway driver?
6'3" here. I've done c. 6K miles in road trips last year, and am looking forward to another c. 2K miles trip to TX next week. I can assure you that (as others have said) the Stinger is comfortable on long drives. When I am at the end of hundreds of miles and all day, I feel rewarded instead of punished.

Need to turn in my dream car lease in a few months and am drunk on the horsepower that few reasonably priced cars will give me. Time to get back into the real world with a fun but smart car purchase.

Stinger GT is at the top of my list, followed by the Genesis G70 3.3, and a distant (but safe) third choice is the Camry XSE (300 HP). The issue is that I may well have a job change that requires me to drive some 700 miles per week (highway commute to and from new location before I move) for the next couple of years.

Frankly I think the Camry might have a bit more comfortable seats but it just does not get me very excited. Genesis would be a smart move based on the positive reviews, but since they are new, I assume not well discounted. The lease cash on Stinger and the raw looks puts it in first place, and I assume will run a good $10K less than the Genesis. But I saw on one review that the Stinger is not as great on the highway.

Any thoughts or opinions to support the Stinger GT for probably a 40,000 mile per year highway driver?
So, to better advise you on a replacement, may I ask what is your current source of transportation? I know you mentioned it was your "dream car lease" but failed to specify what it is. Obviously driving 40K miles per year would throw out the lease option for any car replacement.

Well Helo and Merlin...glad to hear you are so comfortable. Unfortunately, I'm at the other side of the spectrum, ringing in at an impressive 5'7". Soooo, hope the comfort factor applies all across the spectrum!

Helo, maybe we can caravan down I-85 at least to Atlanta if end up switching jobs! My commute would be Raleigh to Atlanta.

JV, my wife allowed me one mid-life crisis 'girlfriend'. I chose an Italian one. Maserati Ghibli is my current and soon to end lease. Before anyone judges me too hard, my previous rides were a Kia Optima, Huyndai Sonata, a used Slaab convertible, and a Toyota Camry before that. So in order to keep my man-card I had to go big for at least one car! Now I'm drunk on the HP.

Well I can tell you one thing you'll need to invest in if you're driving to Atlanta on 85: a Peach Pass. I'd almost suggest going back to the Optima since it's good on gas, quiet, and comfortable then use the extra cash to use the pay lane.

I think some companies allow unlimited mileage on certain CPO models. Volvo, maybe Lincoln? There were more details on forum.leasehackr.com. Might fit your profile - buy one every 2-3 years and have a warranty.

Alternatives to Stinger: you can get into a used Q50 Luxe pretty cheap ($25k with 15-20k miles on it), throw on a tune, and you're > 400 hp. Missing some newer tech, but not a horrible car and has power. Right now, tuned Q50 is faster than tuned Stinger. That may change over time.

I've put 27,000 miles on my GT2 in 11 months. About 60 miles/day for R/T commute. Lots of weekend get-away and vaca trips last summer/fall, including a c. 1700 mile upper-midwest color tour last Oct. I've posted elsewhere here that I love the true GT character of the car. Comfort, luxury, power, style. It eats up the miles on long freeway hauls... and 28-29mpg at high speeds in Eco. Love the GT2 for the infinite seat adjustments and especially the power thigh supports, plus the top-of-the-line sound system, all the tech, and tons of space for your gear.

I put 35k miles on my gt awd last year. Car is completely comfortable but would love to have the vented seats from the gt2. I have had the JB4 in since 15k miles and mpg hasn't changed unless i do some spirited driving. I have also found that mpg doesn't change if you are in any modes (i use sport and manual shift to stay in 8th). Average between 27-30mpg on 93 octane and 25-27 on e30 interstate cruiaing at 75-78mph. Oil changes are expensive every 5k miles and getting new tires as we speak (probably could have made it last another 5-8k but got a good deal).
