New Front Windshield

So you're saying after they install your new windshield you are going to then have to go to the dealership and have it calibrated? That's shitty. Hope it all works out though. I made sure the place I went was going to be able to calibrate it after they installed it.
He said if for whatever reason the HUD or windshield camera/rain sensor didn't work correctly after he installed the new aftermarket windshield he didn't have the capability to fix it and it would need to go to a dealership. But he said Kia dealers won't work on the systems if it's non-OEM glass.

This is another reason why I waited on getting this replaced. Nothing is a simple fix anymore in cars with all the electronics and safety features.

I remember when I owned a 2016 Honda CRV Touring I took my car to Safelite to replace the windshield then I had to make an appointment at a Honda dealership for them to recalibrate the windshield camera because Safelite didn't have the capability to do it themselves.

So, I just entered an underground parking passway (at a local Walmart) with a perfect windshield on the way in and with a giant crack emanating from the driver's top corner down across the driver's view on the way out. Nothing touched or dropped on the car during the passage. What's in the garage? A couple of low, but sharp, speed humps that I am well aware of and literally come to a stop before driving over (because I am a rattle freak and try to avoid all jolts that will eventually result in rattles in the car). The car has never been hit by any stones or rocks. Examination of the crack reveals no indents at all.

No wonder KIA dealers are afraid to handle headliner and sunroof issues for fear of breaking the windshield glass. It's more fragile than I could have ever imagined. What a nice costly surprise for this completely unnecessary situation (had they designed the windshield and creaking/popping panoramic sunroof properly).
