We live in a gated community where the minimum lot size is 3 acres. Even so with that much land, jerk homeowners can be very aggravating.

We're fortunate that all our immediate neighbors are very nice folks.

One neighbor recently got a free 2022 C8 Corvette as a present from his business partner. Nice right?

Well, I was leaving on an errand this AM and he came running toward me and was asking questions about my Stinger GT1. Questions like "Am I happy with it (I let him drive it a few months ago and he was impressed) to which I said absolutely. "Any rattles? Answer No. "Would I be upset if I bought one living next door?" Answer "Absolutely not go for it". He's going to order one! Score one for Kia Stingers! Don

It is always fun to have neighbors follow suit. We started a trend here at the shop and have seen other businesses pick up a Stinger for their enjoyment as well. PS with all that land I sure hope one of the neighbors builds a mini track.

Unfortunately, I think you're right. Hope they committ to stockpiling a generous supply of repair parts. Don

parts by law have to be made and available by the manufacturer for at least ten years, so I have read many times over the years. plus there are enough stingers out there to assure parts for years to come, even if aftermarket. its an enthusiasts car that will generate interest for a long time.

I too have heard the 10 yr stuff but I don't really believe it.

I got into a head on driving my 2016 Chevy SS (LS3 engine). Cop was on scene, said the accident was totally the other drivers fault and unavoidable. Damage didn't look too bad, initial estimate was $9500 and USAA was ready to pay. But the repair shop found hidden structural damage and the parts to repair it were not available, only 5 yrs out.

Part of it was certainly due to the fact that those cars were made in Australia. Don

Send him my Kia Quality video, and tell him to keep his fingers crossed nothing breaks. [note I've had three attempts to get service done at the dealer, and in all three cases they were backed up out the door and unable to service me in anything close to a reasonable amount of time]

That said, I'd still recommend the vehicle for $40k. If one existed at that pricing anymore.

Not just made in Australia but also as sold in n. America they were not under the same rules as domestic cars or cars made by the major companies. I am sure that the five and ten years out thing is according to unknown to us conditions of manufacture. is the stinger a five or ten years availability of parts model? I cant answer that one. Kia is very big, probably under the same ten years availability of the Hyundai group of manufacturers. so I'm going to guess ten years availability.

they do provide the parts but they can't expect the us market to demand ten years of parts when australia only does five years of parts. assuming that your right about that. the importing here would go with how far out the parts are being kept available. Ima only assuming that hyundai does the ten years availability but I dont actually know if its five or ten years.

it seems no one has actually found regulation/law in the US that speaks of any specific time of parts being available... some vague requirements regarding being able to reasonably repair/get parts during a warranty period but even that's not specific... For the states, especially after warranty period, it is up to third party parts companies to decide to continue to produce parts.. most likely some algorithm to decide which parts are most profitable to them...

We are definitely running into parts issues for our 06 Hummer h3 which was manufactured through 2010, and based on the forums, people were having trouble getting some pretty normal parts, like windows/body parts for them not 2 to 3 years after the hummer brand disappeared..
However, those same parts are far more easily found for our previous even older 2000 suburban since I guess the parts suppliers know how many more are out running around so it's worth producing for them.. (i know it might be skewed since chevy still exists and hummer as a brand doesn't, but a friend with a similar era pontiac can find parts far easier than we can as well)

Love to see it! My pops got a 2023 Z51 C8, I get out of that and back into my Stinger and I’m still so happy behind the wheel. Kia really did do a great job on the Stinger for sure! I just wish we had a V8 option

Since the GT1 has 375 ft lbs of torque from 1300-4500rpm, I'd bet that it has more torque down low than the C8. The C8 certainly can put the power down far better and will of course have far more top end rush.

Mine keeps breaking the wheels lose in ECO mode with less than half throttle. Impressive. Don

Also depends on parts binning. If the same part is shared across numerous models it's more likely to be produced for a long time. Parts that only fit one model, and especially one that didn't move hundred of thousands of units, then there's less incentive to manufacture parts that may or may not ever sell. I suspect the Suburban shares a lot of parts with other Chevy vehicles.
