Hey there! Just got my 2019 GT2 and very new to the site! I am already a big fan of all the threads on here so this question might have already been answered!

I just bought the injen intake and very nervous about water entering the engine! Has anyone had any problems with water in their engine bays or intake in heavy storms?

Pittsburgh has a terrible rain problem here and with even cautious driving, I feel like I’d be the person to screw something up:(

Thanks

congrats and welcome. Injen conveniently sells hydro shields, they are sock filters that go over your filters that help filter off water from your filter. You will be fine without them as well, I have a carbon fiber hood with actual vents in it that let in water. I also have the intake snorkel in my grill that let in water. My intake filters are much closer to said snorkel than the injens. I have driven my car in the snow and in the rain. It helps keep my engine bay clean. The way the stock air route is for the intakes leaves little room for water getting in. It would have to go in sideways, make a sharp left turn, then go up, and then turn right. The last time i checked the last air bender was only fiction.

Thank you so much for answering so fast! I really appreciate the feedback and makes me feel a lot more comfortable with my purchase and not make me feel like it was a big waste! I purchased the pre filters but i really wasn’t too sure if they really did anything!

Thank you so much for the fast response! I really appreciate it and makes me feel a lot more comfortable with my purchase! I did by the filters as well but really wasn’t too sure if they did anything or were just a gimmick. I really gotta look into those snorkels because I’ll really be air bending with those bad guys!

The hydro shields do work as long as the coating on them is intact. Once the coating wears off they let in water. Not a lot of water since the actual holes in the fabric are pretty small. So use them during your rain months. The injens are not a bad intake but the filters that they come with are pretty small in my opinion. Once they get dirty I recommend swapping them out with a bigger filter. The snorkels I have are pretty incognito, if you want big ones with leds they sell em. You can also 3d print your own if you want.
