NEED HELP FROM THE TUNING EXPERTS

Recently just purchased a used 21 stinger 3.3. Have come to realize it has been back end tuned. Cannot find any markings on the ecu or tcu, but rev limiter has been raised. Being that it has been tuned before but cannot figure out who tuned it, how can I fix this? I would like to be able to tune it, but what would be the best way to overwrite the existing tune file? Can any tuner even get into it if it has been tuned prior and not returned to stock files? Newer to this but have some experience, nothing with kia tho.

Yes, any tuner or any tuning tool can re-program the ECU and TCU. There is no "lock". Buy an EK1 from your preferred shop or ship the ECU to whomever.

The gadgets - e.g. the JB4 and EK1 - tend to have various security controls to ensure that one gadget is only used on one car. E.g. I have an SCT tuner that is "locked" to my Lincoln - it can only program that car. Any other SCT could also be used to program that car, but my SCT won't program any other car until I "unlock" the programmer.

Some other ECUs are more interesting and tuners have, from time to time, done things that mean only that specific individual can work on that specific ECU after that point, but these cars aren't like that.

Thank you for responding. So is the Ek1 similar to the sct tuners as in preloaded with basic tunes or will it require purchasing a tune file from someone? I know the sct could do basic tunes as a standalone or you could purchase other tunes and load them.

Check out the EK1 website for details. I don't know if they provide base tunes or not. All I've seen is buying a device and separately buying a tune from either them or one of their partners - usually as a bundle.

Yea coming up with that myself. No worries with that though. I think for the time being I am gonna get an EK1 and hopefully flash a stock file, then use JB4 to hopefully get it running safely. From there, who knows what will be next. Thank you for responding and helping where you could.
