Navigation voice command search failure

No love from geico for lojack or similar systems.

I just don't drive the car enough to justify uvo in any more. No issues locking the doors. If I step away from the garage for a few minutes, the garage door gets closed. Just force of habit and type of neighborhood.

Speaking of alerts, after refueling the other day, I didn't get the chase transaction alert until ~5 hrs later.

At this point I think we can put this issue to rest.

tl;dr, voice searching for a poi in a different city (state) is NOT supported by the nav unit itself. Need uvo subscription.

Yup. It has to connect up to the server to parse your command, so that is 100% subscription based. Manually input addresses uses the offline map data.

^^But it will gladly verbally search for addresses (in diff city/state) offline :)

I've been to appleton before... Boring place.. Very grid like. WI fun starts west of madison.

Also been to #2 and #3 above.

I voice searched using the Find command for something out of state. I have the command used shown on the first pic
So, why doesn't that work for @JSolo ? Is his system broken?

Because I refuse to pay the $200 anal annual extortion fee.

Oh. I missed that essential detail. :p So, what was the source of your OP rant all about?

With all my recent technology challenges, I did have a recent positive outcome... FINALLY!

I manage someone's debit card. The account is set up to generate alerts for any transaction over $1. I'd often get alerts that look like this (via email).

Some alerts come through with the merchant's name, some don't. This had been going on now for ~4 years. Recently the bank made a big deal about upgrading it's front end UI platform. After the upgrade the format of alerts did not change, just the website front end. I finally had enough. Opened an account elsewhere. Tested it out tonight.

For some reason walmart was one of those merchants where the ID never came through on the email alert. Ahh the little things that make us happy :).

The fact that I expect voice recognition to include option to find poi in a different city/state than where car is located!!! Without paying for additional services I don't want.

The point is the voice navigation commands require a connection to a server that someone pays for. If you want to use it, you gotta pay for it.

Or use Google, since their system is free*.

But that server is already present - nav HU already has a voice processing engine. Engine just needs additional code to process such requests locally - it already processes address requests (ie 1234 W Street, city State).

Google free, * indeed.

I can't comment on it's engineering, but voice navigation doesn't work for me if I don't have an LTE connection. Just gives a server error. That leads me to believe that all voice navigation requests offload to the cloud.

^^Now that is a twist. I never activated uvo, so for all intents and purposes I don't (or shouldn't) have a cloud connection. Maybe because you have it active, it needs it to functional at all times, even when unavailable.

Is there an option to turn lte off/on?

How do you not have an LTE connection? No cell coverage?

Out in the sticks, generally. Gotta be careful on roads with three number designations :p
