• PLEASE! It is VERY important that this area is not used for the discussion of technical issues with your Stinger. This section is for posting about regional-specific things like Stinger clubs, events, local vendor or dealer recommendations, KiaStinger.com member sightings, etcetera... In other words, I do NOT want people to need to scour through several different sections to find answers about their heads up display. That's why there's a section dedicated specifically to discussions like that. THANK YOU!

Navigation Maps and Map version numbers

Dealer sounds like a wanker. Login to website, register VIN, download update to laptop or PC (about 30min), remove SD card from Stinger, place SD in laptop/PC, transfer file to SD, replace SD in Stinger = done. Not really rocket science.
That's why I was keen on finding out about a User login for NZ but looks like the dealers have it sewn up.

Here's my Stinger MY19 navigation version numbers (attached below).

I was looking for a new map as our Perth roads has changed quite a bit and the speed signs on the Stingers are incorrect time to time.

Pretty sure that is the latest map version but you've got a newer version of everything else.

Yes, you have the latest version however the accuracy from the supplier leaves a lot to be desired.......often out of date speed limits and camera locations.

Yup, hopefully the next year's map fixes most of my issues, at least the roads that I drive on.

You have a Kia. :)

KIA/Hyundai same parent company, if you actually look at the site it asks make, model, country, year, VIN Number, etc, and it supports the Stinger. The hyperlink was generated by the forum and not put in by me.

Tried to register to HYUNDAI-MNSOFT just now, it says my VIN is not valid ?!?!?:(
I'll call the dealer tomorrow.
Probably haven't received your vehicles details from Kia yet. Give it a little longer. You should have the current version as (last time I checked ) there hasn't been a 2019 update for Stinger.

Good point thanks for the advice.

I received some info below regarding the online map updates...

"We apologise for the inconvenience.

Due to there being a gap between the original map used and our navigation updates, there may be some outdated data within the navigation.
This problem will get better in the future as we release updates more frequently.

The 2019 Update is currently planned for mid 2019. Further notices and updates will be provided by KIA Australia."
So sounds like we will be waiting for at least a few more months until we get a map update. Does anyone know about the software update that some people in other countries were able to get, that added things like reading sms messages via bluetooth? Or did I dream this?

Bit off topic but I did notice something yesterday but it didn't happen today. Sat NAV lady said as I was entering the Westgate Freeway from boundary Rd "School Crossing ahead 40km/h" she does have a bit of a mind of her own but I'm not fussed.

Welcome to Kia nav system.

Confirmed by the dealer today, they in fact only send sold car details to KIA at the end of each month and the details are then registered on the web site a week or so after KIA/Hyundai receive sold car details. This according to the dealer ensures map update are free for the life of the warranty from the time of sale.
