I have never formally named a car in my 46 years or so of driving. Tonight I was watching the “Battle of the Five Armies”. I’m going to name my car “Strider”. Now, how to put in on the car in an unobtrusive, yet classy manner.

I kind of think "Melanie" when I think of a name for mine. It's a sad tale: I went down to TX to visit our daughter-in-law, for what I presumed would be the last time (cancer). I went down caravaning in our vans with another son and his family. In between that trip to TX and the next one for the funeral, exactly one month later, I bought the Stinger. The trip down for the funeral was in the Stinger. So nothing else seems as appropriate as "Melanie" for a name. But I don't refer to my Stinger as "Melanie". I just think of her often when I think of my car.

The “Red Dragon”. A good friend of mine named my former car (Blue Optima) the Blue Dragon. He was killed in the line of duty recently. RIP ZPIII I know you’re just waiting to catch me racing around in the Red Dragon.

Never name my cars. It’s like naming your private bits! Like Mr Fluffy and Daisy  Lol

Mine is Arby. That came from the Red Baron who shoots everything down, shortened to R.B. and then, affectionately, Arby. My wife drives it as a DD so I can't give it a hairy name.

My 8YO named mine for me. He was very distraught when we got the recommendation from my body guy to sell my 2010 Legacy GT while it still looked good and had value. (it was the only car of mine he had ever known)

So on my 3 hour ride back from the dealer where I bought the stinger I got a phone call. He told me that he had the perfect name for the new car.

Surge... Named after a blue LEGO Hero Factory guy. How could I not oblige him. The kid is all in when it comes to these LEGO guys. He builds 2 or 3 new guys a day form misc parts.

The limited number or responses so far indicate that some guys think it is "unmanly" to name their cars. We could discuss this ...

What is a "hairy name"?

My 4yr old named her "Sally" as soon as he laid eyes on her, so I pretty much didn't have a choice after that ;)
