Mystery and question after stinger got towed.

So my condo decided to do parking resurfacing while i was away for two weeks. Did not give much of any advanced notice. I always park my car with the nose pointed away from the curb so I don't have to worry about cross traffic backing out.. Where I found my car on the other side of the condo, it was parked with the nose pointed toward the curb. Also noticed that my stinger mirrors were in the open position instead of retracted.

How the heck is this all possible? lol. did the towing people somehow got into my car?
There is no mystery the lot was being repaved and you did not move the car so they towed it. I am surprised they did not bill you for the tow.

Not complaining about the tow. I am just really puzzled by how it was towed or moved. lol...

There are tow trucks that can do it. Skilled drivers that can grab it in 30 seconds and are gone. I tried to link to one example on Reddit, but since I'm new I'm not allowed. Google "fast tow truck snatch and grab" and you'll see some examples.

I am amazed at that tow driver!

However, it still seems weird and not readily explain in my case. My car is always parked with the nose pointing away from the curb. So to have it dropped off in a new spot with the nose pointing towards the curb, that would involve a lot of extra effort, some of which is not readily explained since the distance from the curb to the nose of the car is so narrow as well as an elevated curb

What i am saying is that when they tow my car and then drop of at the new spot, wouldn't it be much easier to just back it down into the spot with the nose also pointing away from the curb? It would be so much more effort to drop it off with the nose now pointing toward the curb. And that slick tow truck shown in the reddit video also needs to have a free parking space next to the car to do that trick tow also.

I suppose what's important is that they did no damage to the car while moving it.
of course that is the bottom line. I was thinking of this thread yesterday when I parked to go into the library, and across the way, in the rodeo grounds, I saw a small dozer moving a compact white sedan. yes, you read that right. the shovel was under the front wheels and the tractor was pushing the car backwards to, somewhere. wth was up with that? I will never know.

I have finally discovered that there is some damage after all ;( . The composite cover underneath the front and engine is torn up ;( .
This also happened to two of my other cars. Both of them now completely missing that cover ;((

My question is would it hurt the cars real bad to drive without that cover in place? one of those cars is an SUV nissan pathfinder. The other is a 2004 G35.

As for the stinger, the cover is torn but not completely missing so it is kinda salvageable i think

I never worried about undercarriage panels on any of my vehicles until the stinger. but no question the road crap gets up in there without them. now I would never run a car without the undercarriage panels in top condition. I can't visualize how a move across a parking lot tore your front panels up.

The video I mentioned previously shows you how easily they can get ripped.

is it this one?
interestingly I get only this stinger forum page with a google search. but youtube has that video at the top of that search phrase result. when I eliminate the "" with a google search I get this result at the top of the search. that one looks like it chewed up the undercarriage panels.

this one is really stupid.
the back wheels are locked up, they turn just a bit then lock up.

worse yet, a mangled rig and pickup.

I've seen a few videos where the Tow didn't have that wheel forklift grabber device at the end, and it was basically a cross bar that they used like a forklift to lift the car up from under the engine and dragged it, causing the car to pivot on the cross bar. I have also see a video a while back where they used a forklift to move a car.

What a dumbass in that last video. What was he going to accomplish besides destroying the truck he couldn't apparently afford anymore?

Anger and embarrassment can make people not think clearly in the heat of the moment.

well, the stinger's cover is salvageable but doesnt look pretty. i had to use several zipties.

As for the G35, and the pathfinder, there is NO more cover ;(. But they are both old cars that rarely get used and both are 180K miles. So I don't know if it's worth buying another cover for either or both. guess will check ebay or the local pick a part yard
