• PLEASE! It is VERY important that this area is not used for the discussion of technical issues with your Stinger. This section is for posting about regional-specific things like Stinger clubs, events, local vendor or dealer recommendations, KiaStinger.com member sightings, etcetera... In other words, I do NOT want people to need to scour through several different sections to find answers about their heads up display. That's why there's a section dedicated specifically to discussions like that. THANK YOU!

MY19 SMS/Texting

If it’s got the ability to view/read txt messages via Bluetooth then you have the current map update version. Can’t comment on android auto as I’ve never used it. As for sending preset messages I think you’re out of luck, Stinger doesn’t have that ability. You’ll just have to rely on voice commands to your phone to respond.
My GT Limited gives me preset replies using android.

Hi Mitchyboy,
I'd got the latest updates (I think) in July but didn't know how to get the messaging to work until now so thanks for the great information.
As I said I think I've got all the latest updates but I don't seem to have the pre-set reply messages that you have on your screen shots.
Did you have to do anything else to get that option or am I missing something? Any suggestions gratefully accepted.
Here's my software status and my messages screenshot

Just curious, are you using an iPhone or an android phone? The pics shown from @mitchyboy and @ShannonC show Samsung Galaxy phones connected. I run an iPhone XS Max and I don’t have the option available. Mine just shows message notifications within the settings menu. It’s possible that it’s only available to Android for some reason, which is weird considering the phone connects via Bluetooth not Apple CarPlay or Android Auto.

Good point.

Are you sure you have the latest update version? That photo that u posted seems to be the photo that I posted of my software versions....
Wow that was embarrassing. Yes it was your photo I'd taken a copy so that I could check the dealer had updated everything and I've accidentally reposted it - sorry.
My one is attached, can't re-update as the dealer did it - we don't have a User login for the updates in NZ.
I'll keep on digging and see if I've missed enabling something on my phone.

Hi Coast GT
Good question and I am running the iPhone XS Max too so looks like it may be an iPhone issue or some parameter on the phone still to be enabled.
I am receiving text messages in the Stinger and am able to read them but no set reply options. Also connecting by Bluetooth

Yet another reason to dump Apple and switch to Android :p
Not but in all seriousness, that is weird. It must be a bluetooth permission issue - the car obviously has permission to view messages on your phone, but it seems that it is blocked telling your phone to send messages.

I've checked Bluetooth on the phone and for my Stinger connection everything is ticked or switched on (Show Notifications, Sync Contacts etc)
and for Notifications I've gone to Messages and Allow Notifications is switched on. Haven't found anything linked to Bluetooth or Messages that isn't switched on already. If anyone else has an iPhone and can get the pre-set replies that would be interesting to know what their settings are.
