Trying to figure out if I'm just having bad luck or if there is some connection to the low profile/color of my Stinger. I've had a black GT2 since last February and have had 4 different incidents of damage to my car when parked. First time car was parked in my driveway and someone backed into it while turning around - they left a note and took responsibility and repairs totaled $3800. 2 days after repairs were finally done, I came out from running some errands in my town and someone had side swiped it denting in the driver side in the exact spot that was just repaired. No note. While waiting for that to be repaired, came out from the grocery store a few weeks back to a broken tail lamp and small dent suggesting someone backed into it. Just today I went out to my car which was parked on the street overnight and someone hit the other side and dented the passenger side door!

I have owned many vehicles over the years and not even once has an incident like this happened, let alone 4 in 10 months. Either just bad luck or people have a hard time seeing it at night due to it's significantly low profile and black color. I don't live in a super urban area either, just a fairly laid back NH seaside town.

At this point I don't even want to get the repairs done because who know what will happen next. Very frustrating. Maybe a sign to get something else?!

Jesus... you live with heathens. Go buy a bright red smart car.

Maybe that will prevent accidents (size/brightness).

Sorry dude

Wow. That is incredible

Super frustrating. Maybe look into getting it wrap. Temporary Different color.

My 2016 Optima was rear-ended twice in 4 months. Both times I was stopped and just got creamed. A total of over $25,000 in damage - $10 the first time and 15 the second. Still couldn't get it totaled, so I got it fixed the second time and traded it the next day.

Not as bad as the OP, but I sometimes think people mistake the KIA badge for a bullseye.

I will sleep in it. Don’t coming late to work so I can park there and not on the streets - grocery ? I’m waiting in my car and let others buy :D
The first damage is always the hardest... after that .. I don’t know.. if anyone runs from the place where it happened that sucks so bad.

I know insurance companies post data on which car colors are more prone to accidents...................I remember dark gray to black being worse .............Trade it for a different color or wrap it . Sorry to hear !! Better luck soon I hope

We had a bright red Dodge Shadow That was the only vehicle in all my years that seemed "targeted" at both ends: it was never sideswiped or dinged by others opening doors into it. But three, count 'em, three separate accidents took out the rear end twice and ripped the front bumper clean off once. The first rear ender was by a guy rushing to work in the morning, one day after he had gotten his driving privileges back (unfreakingbelievable, I know). My wife had slowed down quite quickly and stopped on a two lane road for a pedestrian crossing, and he slammed into our rear bumper. The insurance gave what it was worth and we fixed the rear end adequately, put the rest in the bank and kept driving it. I got rear ended a second time in rush hour traffic and we collected a second time. Now the insurance company said it was totalled. We put enough into the repair to make it driveable a second time and the rest in the bank. Our son was learning to drive, and we knew in our cells that he would get the car banged up: sure enough, pulling out onto a one-way six lane road, he failed to check far out enough and got collected by a woman coming swiftly in one of the far lanes, tore the bumper off. We put it back on and he was driving the car months later, and making small payments to buy the car, when the trans went out. That was the end.

So bright red isn't any guarantee, even in traffic.

I'd just say you are unbelievably unlucky. One thing you can do is be determined to never park casually. Parking lots are a crap shoot if you are parking near where others want to park: park further out, and only in end stalls, and pulled as far away from the next stall over as possible (without risking rashing your rims!). That must have been some short driveway, to collect someone backing out. I see people all the time, parked with the ass end practically over the gutter; that is just asking for it. Never park on the street if you can possibly avoid it, and never facing the wrong way. And if not, then look for places away from corners and definitely never opposite a driveway opening. Good luck in the future!

@MerlintheMad voiced my philosophy exactly. Play the percentages and pick your parking spots carefully. I used to prefer parallel parking but with all the sensors in the bumpers on my GT2, I don't like to do that now, either. Still, most cars today have polycarbonate front and rear fascias so most people won't contact you. Never park near old "beaters" or vehicles that haven't been washed in months or years. That says a lot about how the owner thinks about their vehicle.

On the bright side, the law of averages has to catch up with you quickly!

It's cursed.....blaming the color is over thinking the sheer lack of luck the op had with their car.

Notice, @mldavis2 and I never said anything to support the OP's theory on "low profile" or color. A parking lot at night is well lit up, so two of those incidents are not to be blamed on darkness and a black car. The Stinger's profile isn't low by any stretch. It has a hefty side on profile toward the rear (I did not say it is fat in the rear). I don't think that black cars have more curbside damage than other colors do. It's all about positioning to reduce the chances of this sort of crap occurring. Nothing we do is an absolute guarantee. But yooge odds in our favor can be obtained by constant vigilance and a willingness to get more exercise (walking) in, if that will spare ourselves parking in danger zones.

Right,......cursed!!
