I had an annoying rattle in the rear passenger side roof area that would come and go, and never seemed to be there at regular maintenance time. I finally caught it at the right time, though, and it's been eliminated.

At the same time, a couple other vague rattles got resolved.

The service dude told me there are 3 primary sources for rattles in the Stinger, and I had all of them. The one that bothered me the most, though - the one in the roof - was apparently the top end of the hatch strut where it is attached to the body. Seems that if it's not tight enough, the strut will rattle when the hatch is closed and it's retracted.

So for the first time in 15 months, my Stinger has no rattles! Yippeee!

That's really good info, a lot of folks with persistent "hatch rattles" might actually be experiencing this. Probably easy to check for from the back seat..

KIA techs who are actually worth something. That's probably more exciting news than getting it fixed!

Could you take a picture of where exactly you’re referring to for the roof rattle?

Cheers man. Good info to look to

What are the other two rattle areas? I've heard a lot of folks talking about the hatch rattling but always thought that was in the very back of the car. Thanks and glad the rattles are fixed. I *hate* rattles so I feel for you when you say they're all fixed :-)

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...

If you are sitting in the back seat on the passenger side and lean to your right, it would be coming from somewhere around your head.

Afraid you'd ask that. ;) I understand one of them is the well-known hatch rattle (or thump) caused either by the side "bumpers" or the round rubber stops on the bottom edges of the hatch. I think the other one is the hatch latch, which might need to be adjusted.

My Kia dealer traced the cause of my rattle to those struts, something I'd never even considered.

sorry to barge in, what was the fix to the strut? replace w a new one?
