3.3TT My CEL is "historical"?

It's not flashing, it's solid. Also, no longer appears now.

Suppose it no longer appears when I take it to the dealer? Will they just blow me off?

No it’s still there until it’s cleared even if the light is out.

Yeah I figured. Eco it is until next Thursday the appt

I haven't seen much at all about coil problems and coils aren't readily available, so that seems unlikely.
I don't know about that. Several on here, including myself, have replaced coil(s). In my case, I had the No. Six cylinder returning to stuttering because of the plug going bad: and this third plug change included the boot/coil: so far so good (that was on the 30th of March).
I am still driving the car, this time only in eco mode.

Am I in trouble with these error codes? Can I still commute to my work (15 min each way) daily?
Yes, you can drive on a CEL. Mine would come on when I engaged heavy boost. I got "stutter" (bad plug and boot/coil). Unburned gas was passing the sensor back by the catalytic converter: when it senses unburned gas, on goes the CEL. I agree to take it easy. When I drove like the grandpa (little to no boost), the CEL would stay OFF (while I waited for my appointment to do the diagnostic and replace the parts). Keep in mind that I am talking about a totally stock powertrain.

ok so the June 10th event got cancelled, which gave me time to look into this issue. Especially because the CELs were showing again.

Its been like 2-3 months since the last time I was at Ourisman Kia Chantilly. The stinger was cleared of any track numbers, and nothing was in the car that could relate it to the track. I bring the car in, and they said they will take a look. Due to the error codes (same as last time), they said it had to be something with the electrical harness.

Back story: Two years ago, I made this thread about rodents eating wires. After that incident, I paid a local shop to install insulation around the wires to ward off their smell. Whether it has worked -- or maybe the chipmunks/squirrels just didn't care anymore -- i haven't had any rodent problems since.

Now: Kia promptly had the car for the greater part of the f*cking week. They then call me and said that they won't touch anything that is aftermarket. So they won't even remove the harness to test stuff underneath the harness. I need to get the original place (PTUNING) to remove it, then they will try to fix it.

Now its one huge CBA. Cost to get 3rd part mechanic to fix everything. Cost to get place to remove harness, then see if wtty covers the rest. Oh, and Kia Oursiman only provides free rentals to people that bought their cars from them. What a crock.

Anyone have experience with this?

Do you mean experience with Kia getting all choosy over how to honor warranty work?

Closest I've come was a couple of months ago, with my TPMS gone completely dead, and was told that a diagnostic would only be performed with the OEM TPMS sensors on the car, in other words, I'd have to change back to my OEM wheels (fortunately I must have found a loose connector to the TPMS sending module and didn't need the diagnostic).

The way you describe it, that dealership is just being deliberately difficult to avoid warranty work. A harness is a harness is a harness, it shouldn't have to be a Kia part as long as it's as good as (or better than) a Kia part.

Honestly, I'm not surprised Ourisman is doing this. I've had history with them and they always seem to nit pick over the smallest things. I also bought my Stinger from the Ourisman in Alexandria (same owner as Chantilly, but not Fairfax) only because they were the only dealership that had exactly what I wanted. I'd try a few of the other dealers. Thankfully we have a handful in the area (Dulles, Chantilly, Fairfax, Manassas, Alexandra, Falls Church). I've heard that service manager at Dulles is pretty flexible, but I haven't been there yet for service.

Sadly the closest one aside from Ourisman is Brown Manassass, which is like 30 min away with traffic.

Yeah I live smack right between the two of those. My first service I intend to go to Browns and talk to the service manager just to see what would be in store for the future visits if I were to require a loaner as well as install simpler mods like an intake, etc.

I will say, I did visit Dulles the one time when I dropped (and subsequently lost) the drivers side nut for the sway bar install. The guy I spoke to at the parts department was really cool about the whole thing, so who knows. For me personally I'd be willing to go out of my way to go to a dealer if they're mod friendly...within limits of course.

hmmm that Dulles Kia is right in leesburg, but it is 10 min closer to my work then browns manassass is. Each are 30 min away from my home.

Maybe i give them a try

Dulles Kia is legit, so far at least. They said they didn't care about the harness and will work with me. They said that they might have to remove the insulation anyways just to diagnose wires, and if they do thats fine. I just need to schedule this 1.5 weeks in adv since kia doesnt give them rentals and only suburu does.

good stuff.

in for updates...

ok, so the CEL came on again, and I drop it off at Kia Sterling/Dulles. They said that the problem is due to a chewed out wire, presumingly by a mouse or something. Attached the pic they sent me. It's not quite in focus, look at the wire sheath to the left, look how you see the colored wire underneath.

They want $4900 LOL. The original shop that installed the sheath and wireharness was like $1000. I'm talking with them, they are saying it may be possible to repair it if we can find the connector with same pins. Dealer says they only sell the wires as a complete unit.

Does anyone know where I can get a connector that is pin compatible?

Go to a scrapyard. Cut the connector you need out and as much wire as you can get from the scrap car.
Installation can be done in several ways depending on the skill/comfort level of the technician. Can splice in the new connector at the wires - of can depin the connectors and swap most of the old pins into the new connector - while repairing only the few damaged/chewed wires.

If you can get a good look at the connector pins - you can get the appropriate depinning tool - from somewhere Amazon sells many

Whats this? The braded nylon sheathing is not OEM?? - It was installed as an accessory? - can you elaborate?
