Always thought the EPA hwy rating on the 3.3TT V6 was a bit low so I decided to experiment last weekend.

This was done on about 80% hwy. Did cruise at 80-81 mph when safe, and on city roads, i tried to coast as much as I can.

Good to know we can stretch the tank a bit! Think I can hit 30-31 on a road trip easy.

Under perfect conditions. Normal 50/50 conditions (uphill/downhill, headwind/tailwind) expect c. 25 MPG, give or take. I've hit 31 MPG too, once or twice.

Fk. I get 16.
That right foot is a bit heavy eh? I usually average around 25-26 without even caring about my mileage. A smooth driving style can get you higher mpg pretty easily.

To be fair, I do occassionally get 16 mpg on days where I get to the line at most of the red lights. Hard to resist the urge ;-)

Smooth driving in the NoVA suburbs gets me around 20 mpg on average. Not unusual to get 26-27 mpg with the same driving style on the highway. Definitely possible to push high 20's with a more concerted effort.

There's an argument in here about the flaws of EPA testing, but just don't have the energy for another one of those debates.

Not only under perfect conditions. Long road trip will do it. I got 31 cruising at 80mph for a 2000 mile trip from Southern California up to Colorado. That’s no where near flat land.

You must have magic hands and feet! :D I've tried on several long road trips, and the only two times I saw 30+ MPG was going from Salt Lake City down to Wichita Falls, TX; and down to LA; both return trips I was at c. 25 MPG.

Yeah I get at least 25 mpg on the highway... and I'm cruising usually in Eco! :D

18-20 in mixed driving depending on how often my right foot tries to find the mat. Unless I'm doing a long road trip, it's in Sport or Custom with a Sport drivetrain. Normal and anything beyond that feels completely gutless.

Magic hands, maybe a magic Stinger, or one heckuva tailwind. :P

It’s called cruise control. Maybe you should use it.
And no, no tail wind.
What gave the impression that I don't use cruise control? When "cruising" for hours the main occupation is obtaining a record MPG leg between gas stops. I use Custom and the engine is on Eco. What more can be done? How did you know you weren't getting a push?
