Misfires at 750 miles, then drivers side turbo failed around 2300...sucked metal through the engine / broken rod bearings.Damn, what happened to the first motor?
Damn. Were you modded at all when this happened? Did they replace it under warranty?Misfires at 750 miles, then drivers side turbo failed around 2300...sucked metal through the engine / broken rod bearings.

Check a few posts up, posted my mods list. More normal than you think when the tech that worked on my car had already swapped a motor for the same issue that blew during the dealers inspection test drive (stock), and they had a TSB for the misfire issue already. I, and then the dealer identified the cause as a defective turbo. The reason it took 3 weeks was they had to get approval from Kia techline, the wrong motor was sent (AWD) then the right motor was sent. Took them 3 days to the swap once the motor arrived so the delay wasnt on the dealer. The dealer handled it very professionally, Kia consumer affairs was a nightmare to deal with but they ended up paying some lease payments for me to make up for it.What mods did you have, wtf?! This doesnt sound normal.

Great to hear it worked out and they took care of it. Were they not able to detect the JB4? I'm currently worried about voiding warranty to want to invest in any performance upgrades.
Thank you for that thorough reaponre. That helps. I've been wanting to get the JB4 and some kind of a catback. No, the JB4 can be removed in 5 minutes and is piggyback so it's undetectible. Always remove any tuning mods before going to the dealership for service issues as to not risk voiding your warranty. I did all of that work by myself in my driveway, so needless to say I'm not the type to take the car to the dealer for maintenance unless something serious breaks. If you're not that type, I recommend keeping mods to a minimum. Things the dealer told me they don't care about... rebadging, wheels, suspension (unless you've modified it and are making a warranty claim against suspension components), and exhaust (catback). They may not care about intake unless you're having overheating issues, but better safe than sorry. Most intakes should take no more than 30 minutes to swap back to stock.
