Hey y'all. New to stingers and had a question regarding conservative mods/tuning. Used to have a '23 K5 GT-line that got flooded and now have a '19 Stinger GT2 RWD. bought 1 month ago at 35k miles, at 36k miles right now. Service records are near perfect, oil changes have been done every 6 or 7k miles at the absolute most. Had it looked at at my local Kia service dept and my advisor said everything is in near pristine shape. It was owned by one old guy who drove it like, well, an old guy. My question is even though it has almost 40k miles, and it's been completely stock the whole time; would I be chilling just running an intake and catback exhaust and planning on running JB4 on map 2, I myself don't drive it insanely hard often but would like some extra power when doing some spirited driving but don't wanna worry about major reliability issues. I've been doing a bunch of reading even since before owning the car and it seems from my research that the only people who have ever had any major powertrain issues are only when they start pushing the 600-700 hp realm, running meth injection, changing downpipe, running high maps or aftermarket ecu tunes like Lap3 or Lozic, etc. (and the failures I have heard about are rare) Any answers super appreciated, and I'm super happy to be apart of this community.

If you want to keep the engine reliable, leave it stock IMHO. You can add intake or exhaust. Won't give you any power, but will increase the sound, so it will sound more powerful.

Welcome! Just noting that I'm moving this discussion out of the community lounge and into the main Stinger talk forum.

I bought mine a 2018 GT low mile lease return. In 2021
Had 23000 miles on it.

Basically just broken in. I wouldn't want to mod it before that 25000 mark.

I put all the Same types of mods as your thinking.
In my signature line.
It's my wife's Daily and I drive it up to map4 on E30 about 10 times a year at most for road trips and fun days.

It has just passed 33333 miles and never had a single problem.

The JB4 and Tcu is easy enough to swap out for its yearly dealer visit . Not that they would even notice the TCU unless they took it apart and flashed it I would think.

My wife loves it other then the ride height in the winter if we have snow just because its easy to tag curbs and road damage in the winter.. So she just drives our Grand cherokee if the weather gets bad.

It a great platform for easy mods that really respond well and can still be very well mannered under normal driving.

GO FOR IT.

Hey @Vairium,

Welcome to the forum and congratulations on your Stinger!

These cars and the simple bolt-ons available for the platform are all very reliable.

We've run the JB4 Tuner for a few years now and even on old platforms before the Stinger was announced. This tune is completely reliable and we haven't seen any issues with it in our years using and selling it.

Send me a message if you have any questions! I'll leave a link to one of our performance packages with all the basics included for you to check out.

definitely gonna go with intake/exhaust. worst comes to worst I'll throw the JB4 on just to get rid of limp mode/overboost, god forbid it happens. I run 93 as it is so I wouldn't have to make any major changes to run map 2, and like I said I'm not someone who's constantly mashing the throttle and speeding everywhere. I drive pretty chill for the most part, might do a couple small pulls and maybe one WOT pull if I'm on a longer drive. other than that I really try to baby my cars, after all I want them to last as long as possible lol (don't we all). I know the 3.3 is virtually the best drivetrain Kia has ever put out in every regard, so I might just go for the tune as well just for the occasional extra fun for spirited driving. Best thing about the JB4 imo is the ability to disable it at any point on the fly. I do appreciate your input <3
