What is the general consensus towards catch cans and vehicle warranty? I've read a few horror stories of some manufacturers cancelling engine warranties over catch cans, and this doesn't look like something I'd want to have to remove before dealer servicing.

I've asked my local Genesis service representative (I drive a G70) on the companies view of light mods as well, how does Kia generally view vehicle mods?

I can't comment on other countries, but in Australia, a modification cannot cancel warranty on the whole car, and can only impact a particular warranty claim if it can be shown to have contributed to the issue at hand in a way that a stock part would not have done.

Effectively, they would need to be able to prove that the catch can actually caused an issue.

In this case, a catch can is actually preventing a pretty serious issue, and they should be thankful that you're actually reducing their obligation to fix a known issue with GDI engines.

I've been tossing up wether to fit catch can or not, as i'm not sure how long i will keep car before i upgrade again. I normally keep them for 3yrs, plus we may have AWD stinger by then :)

Where's the presasle list and where is the special pricing listed? This link doesn't seem to show either. Kia Stinger GT Direct-Fit Catch Can, PCV Side 2018+ PRE-SALE

Unfortunately our presale is only active in North America currently, though we will have inventory of these kits heading to Australia. I'll shoot you a PM!

Yup this one is pretty straight forward! Luckily Kia made it pretty easy for us on this one

It's tough to give a definite yes or no answer on this one ,unfortunately, since it's all up to the specific dealership. Plus, the dealers tend to get a little touchy with catch cans since they are installed in line with the PCV system which to them looks like you've modified the emissions system. We do our due diligence in order to ensure that we're not negatively effecting the PCV system in any way before we launch these kits, but it's still dependent on the dealer whether or not they uphold warranty claims with the catch can installed.

Our suggestions are to talk to your dealer to determine if they are a more mod-friendly dealer. If not, we would recommend seeking one out, or putting the vehicle back to stock before heading to the dealer (luckily this kit is an easy swap). We know it can be a bit of a headache, but we'd rather you guys not have to pay out of pocket for repairs and maintenance.

Let me know if you have any other questions on this topic!

That's theoretically how it is here. When this comes up, the Magnuson Moss Warranty Act usually gets brought up, which is generalized to that exact situation. The dealer has to prove the aftermarket product is causing the issue in order to deny the warranty claim. Unfortunately for us here, that might have to be settled in court, and cost way more than the repairs themselves.

When it comes to warranties here, it can get a little touchy, and for some reason catch cans are typically the first product that brings up any sort of issue. Typically, most dealers know that enthusiast centered cars are going to receive some modifications, so it's not super often that we see dealers giveign the hard no on catch cans, but it does come up with just about every kit.

I mean it's better to play it safe and stop that blowby right? ;)

We are fortunate that we have a large federal government body (the ACCC, Australian Competition and Consumer Commission) and local state government consumer affairs departments who can generally (but not always) make dealerships and car manufacturers see sense.

Here, the dealerships send the warranty claim to Kia for judgement - what they send, and how they send it, can often be important.

Got mine today! Install was super easy. It would have taken 30 minutes like they said if I could have found a 10mm socket sooner of course.
