There was some discussion, hidden away in an older thread, about how many miles are on Stingers when they are new. Some claim that Kia does some road testing. Others defended dealers who were supposed to test drive the cars as part of the service-out car preparation.

My GT2 AWD was delivered to the dealer yesterday with 4 miles on the odometer. I will ride with the technician during the "mandatory" test drive when I pick the car up today to verify that claim. So I'm guessing that anyone who takes delivery of a car with 15-20 miles on it is buying a short-term demo or a salesman's toy. Just sayin' ..... Both of my Aussie-built cars had 4 miles on them. Anything more has been driven by someone, and technicians are paid by the job, typically, not by the hour, so more than a mile or two is excessive if you really want a "virgin." I'll keep my mouth shut during the test drive today and see how far the car is driven on a legitimate test.

I've bought maybe 10-15 brand new cars, see of them fresh off the delivery truck.

I don't think I've ever had one with less than 4 or 5 miles on the odometer.

My Stinger sat at the dealer for a few weeks before I bought it so it had been on several test drives. When I bought it there was appx 70 miles on it.

4 miles doesn't seem excessive. I'm sure the cars get driven from one place to another while at the plant, on and off of delivery vehicles, around parking lots at ports, etc.

My experience has been the same. It takes that much to get them out of the factory onto the lot, load them onto whatever (rail cars, transports) and get them into the shop. 4-5 miles is a new car, except perhaps for some of the high-priced badges that actually do drive them around for a while (not sure what that accomplishes that a buyer can't do.)

4 miles is actually the base line. Up to 10 miles is acceptable anything higher it has been test driven at least once.
You are correct @mldavis2 it takes them that much to get it to the destination.
Post some pics of that beauty once you have the keys to it.

Finally picked the car up. They had off-loaded it and pulled the keys (er....fobs) and waited for me to get there to verify the 4 miles on the odometer. They had cleaned it up but not before asking if I wanted them to do that before I got there or not (sure, why not.) Did the paperwork and went to the service bay. Technician waited until I got there to do the PDI and I visited with him a bit as he ran through the computerized tablet checklist. Test drive was about 10 miles checking cruise control and other toys. Performed the headlight software update, we went out and filled the gas tank and I drove 55 miles home - gently - while playing with the buttons.

Perfect car so far. Nearly caused 3 wrecks from drivers rubber-necking as I went by. Had one BMW driver - 5 series - pace me for a while before he turned off. Took the wife for a short spin and parked the Red Baron in the garage for the night. Very pleased with the dealership and their accommodations to my picky requests and giving me a good deal. :)

this is not true. I've got about 25 Stingers in stock right now. these are the miles entered from the PDI, before any test drives:
three were between 5 and 10 miles. thirteen were between 10 and 15 miles. nine were over 15 miles, but less than 50. then we have a couple with close to a hundred miles because I traded them in from a different store. it would be rare to have one under 5 miles, but I'm sure there are exceptions. best regards

REALLY happy for you, I know you've been waiting for a while. enjoy!

In the 90's I ran the Auto repair shop, for a major rental car company, at SF Int. Airport. I would sometimes go the the lot where the new cars were unloaded from the trains. As I recall, they typically had approx. 3-4 miles, though I believe some got test driven at the factory. (I of course, did not see every car offloaded)!

I would often pick the car I would drive, for a week or so. Talk about being spoiled! The rental company I worked for, bought certain makes, below dealer cost. They also got a $5.00 discount, because they were shipped w/ less than the standard amount of gasoline. One day, as a car was being driven from the rail lot, to our facility, it ran out of gas and was hit from behind, hard, totaling it! About 7 or so mile on it!

Bought my Stinger with 27 miles, but I test drove 10 of those miles. :D

Received delivery of mine with 13 miles the odo, including Pre-Delivery-Inspection miles...

Whoo-HOO! Congrats on finally getting behind your own wheel, and love the car's nickname!

mine i'm picking up tomorrow has 11 miles

but it's also been sitting on the lot since Jan I'd be surprised if no ones driven it.

There are some variations depending on the port into which the car was shipped according to my dealer. But all of the cars he gets come through Hueneme (California) and have 4-5 miles on them. Other ports may vary. And of course you have no idea who or how someone was joyriding in those cars. If 100 miles is OK with some of you, fine with me. I would refuse to accept it, and those cars are clearly demos and deserve an additional discount. Mine had 4 and I'm happy, and the 4 miles was what the dealer told me all his cars had on them when they came in, so I held him to that.

Just some anecdotal info, I had a sales manager show me no registered test drives for my model bought off the floor, and it had 12 miles off the lot.

45 on it when I had driven it home last week on January, this morning I glanced and I am at 1,953. I rack up miles quickly where I live.
