Hello, I installed my JB4 and HKS spark plugs gapped to .22 a couple days ago, I'm in Arizona so only 91 octane is available. I ran map 1 a few times and it was working great really pinningme to my seat, I hit it last night and there didn't seem to be much boost being built. This morning I add some e85 to get to a e30 mix just incase it was the gases fault. I ran maps 0 though 2 and there seems to be a lot of timing being pulled and it doesn't feel any more powerful then stock so I'm wondering if I messed up somewhere with the spark ups or the JB4 installation. Thank you

If you actually aren't building much boost it might be setting an overboost condition. I haven't seen it happen in rapid succession like that, and you say it feels like stock which would still be a moderate amount and not in "limp" mode. I'm no good at reading logs, someone else will chime in.

From my (very amateur) reading of the logs, he's building boost fine, just has a bunch of timing corrections (ign2-6). If that map is before E30, probably worth another run. Or post on jb4tech to get the Burger guys' input.

Bad fuel or E85. Give it a try with unconnect battery for 15 minutes and see if it will be the same.

I have had bad E85, if its old more water is in and that shows higher E content than it is. So that could foul us and timing behaving strange.

I reset the ecu and that seems to have helped with the timing being pulled except for ign 4 that one is still really funky and honestly the car doesn't feel any faster then stock, unlike the first night I installed it where there was a definitely difference between map 0 and map 1

Even a spark plug from HKS can fail. Take plug out and look. Also a coil can be bad and more noticable when power goes up. I think several here have change some coils. One way is to swich coils between cylinder and log. Not so fun but better than bying before not knowing.

Would you know what cylinder or position ign 4 is?

Yes, back at driver side if you have a left handed car.

If you strand in front if car looking at the engine:
1-2-3 left from front and then right side 4-5-6 from back. Clockvise

Thanks, I did not know that, will be helpful for looking at logs. Is it more common to see timing pulled on 3/4 (rear cylinders) due to cooling, vs the fronts?

Good!
Yes, always 3 and 4 and it seems that 4 dominate a bit over 3. My theory is that high pressure fuel pump that is near cyl 4 can add some noise to react at. It should not be so as KIA should taken care of that or if they have done it more sensitive by purpose as temp is also a factor.

The last log you were in map 0 which is stock setting.
Still getting timing corrections. Did you install the fuel wire on the jb4? If so, did you tap your factory wiring or use the PnP adapters?
Possibly something wrong there.

Maybe log AFR and AFR2 and compare banks. Think AFR2 is bank 2 with cyl 4-5-6
