Members running intakes please check in

I would like to see some intake temps from some of the aftermarket guys. I just swapped out my custom intakes for the stock airbox's. I honestly do not feel much of a difference once the turbos hit. Sound is the big difference, Now its all exhaust. I will be selling my custom short ram intakes for 50 dollars plus shipping. Twin AEM Intake Filters with 2.5 inch long pipes plus custom brackets. Send me a direct message if interested.
For Sale - 3.3T Custom Intakes

Update. After removing my intakes and running the stock boxes. the car is definitely slower. I've driven about 400 miles now with the stock boxes and I don't like them at all. I lost a lot of top end power. I will be buying a new set of intakes lol.

I can’t tell much difference.... but then again I modified the stock airbox same day . Your intakes do sound awesome though.

Modification... no sound, but it did feel more torque(y).

Ive decided to hold off on getting an intake at least until my next dealership visit. I want to ask them directly if it will void any of my warranty.

I asked the Service Manager here in Regina about an intake and he said not to worry about it. If you're worried just swap the stock boxes back in before going in for service. They're easy to remove and install. 3 bolts per side.

And to be clear, they can't "void" your entire warranty. They can make you pay for repairs if they can link the damage to whatever modification you made. With only an intake this would be pretty difficult.

Yeah I'm aware of all that but Im not interested in having to remove and replace the airboxes all the time. I just want to get a feel for how they are about aftermarket stuff before I even go down that road. Im aware they have to link the intake to the problem at hand but i have young kids and just dont have the time to go to war over a car repair. If I sence it might be an issue when i ask the question than im just going to steer clear.

I took mine off and installed the stock boxes in about 20 minutes. good rule of thumb... Just put the car back to stock before going to the dealer. You avoid a lot of issues if something was to happen in the future.

Jonny Tig CAI. I love it, the sound and how hard it pulls. To be fair I also had the JT FMIC and SSR performance downpipe installed at the same time and it's a completely different car. Once I get an exhaust or EVC and tune this car will be so completely different from stock that any stock GT owner would be shocked at how much harder and nastier it pulls and sounds. I can break the tires loose now currently rolling at 30 mph and punching it. Couldn't do that before.

Agree on the night and day transformation from these mods. Goes from pretty fast to scary fast when you drop a second off the 1/4 mile time with all the bolt ons and tune.

I think you dropped more than a second

Old thread here but wanted to ask a question… Anyone notice turbo surge/bark after intake install? Never heard a peep before and just out the Injen intake kit in my 3.3TT and now I hear it every time I back off the gas when half throttle or beyond. Any experience here is welcome (from yes/no answers to different kit experience to best ways to prevent surge). Thanks!

It's normal with intakes on these cars, and you can't make it not do it unless you go back to stock.

I get it with my AEM intake. Didn't have it with my Spectre DIY setup though. Just don't back off the throttle, problem solved! ;)

Thanks! Definitely adjusted my driving style a bit to back off more gradually. Sometimes tough to do in the city though but such is life if I want the tune life ‍♂️

I don't think it made the car that much quicker (it is some, but not yuge), but tip-in is hugely improved and the sound is amazing. I'm not much for loud exhausts but I really dig intake noise. With a cold air intake you can hear the turbines spool, and you can clearly hear the BOV. WIth the stock intake I could not hear the turbines at all, and the BOV was really dull sounding. I'd post 0-60, except all I have to go by is TrackAddict and Torque Pro, and TrackAddict claims ridiculously quick numbers I do not trust (I believe it's optimistic by at least 0.3 second).

I have the AEM intakes installed. What exactly are they supposed to sound like? Mine provide more noise, but I don't think I like the way it sounds. It sounds like it is sucking air through a water hose. After the install I thought I had an exhaust leak or something. Like damn, these things sounds like I gave my car asthma and it needs and inhaler. Raspy little things.

That induction noise is typically why people install aftermarket intakes and is what they sound like. They provide negligible performance gains so if you don’t like the sound maybe sell it and put your stock boxes back in.
