Anyone have the MBRP catback with downpipes and install the MBRP resonators to eliminate the droning? How did it come out?

I have the MBRP catback with Ultimate performance primary and secondary downpipes and the droning is absolutely unreal. I had to ultimately take off the catback to get rid of the droning but now they sell the resonators so trying to see if it's worth buying them and re-installing.

This video has the mbrp with secondaries and resonators and I think he had tips as well

Just saw this video as well. Dude has MBRP cat back. UP downpipe combo and was getting the same droning/rattling/rasping and ended up going with the vibrant ultra quite resonators. Now im wonderin if the vibrants are a better choice than the MBRP. I already ordered the MBRP res. so i guess ill see!

This is what it sounded like without the resonators...

Been interested in the MBRP resonators for a little bit now. Keep us posted! I did the exhaust wrap and it helped quite a bit with the droning reverbing back into the cabin.

Do the real tips first before spending money and time to chop pipes up for resonators. Factory fake tips are horrible when it comes to exhaust mods. This applies to all cars.

MBRP is basically retarded when it comes to resonating. Their Helmholtz resonator chambers are too short to be effective for a 6cyl car. We need 33-34 inch Helmholtz resonators to kill that 2100 rpm drone. So considering how short they are on MBRP systems, it’s a joke.

Don’t even believe the bullshit about aftermarket exhaust are well designed blahblahblah. Most of their R&D process is just simply slap whatever they have in their hand to test the fitment, then pray for it doesn’t sound too bad. Greta Thunberg probably stayed in school longer than those so called “mechanics”.

Do you have a recommendation for good sound and no drone besides add tips?

Sounds like the stock exhaust is the best sounding exhaust for stinger. Everything else is just a droning shit.

I’d like to say do more research on available EVC options. Figure out who offers RPM controlled exhaust valves. For those who made valves controlled by rpm, they can easily fix all the sub 2200 rpm by keep the valves shut then opens up after 2300-2500 for more noise. That’s the most up to date cheat code for aftermarket exhaust systems able to deal with drone as good as factory ones.

Don’t waste your money on those who only offer a simple on off switch.

I have Ark+mbrp. drone and raspy. But sounds great, very exotic.
To minimize the drone in cabin, you need tips, make sure they are well connected and weld them on if u can.
To minimize rasp, u need straight through resonators. I first welded on two 11 inch case length, 3.5 inch width and 2.25 inch diameter resonators. I then tried 9.5 inch case length, 4 inch width and 2.5 inch diameter resonators.
They both are similar when it comes to reducing drone and rasp. The first one has smaller diameter which give slight back presure. thatz actually good because the mbrp reduces a lot back presure(2.5inch dia) comepare to stock. some back presure helps with reduce drone. You will notice, the resonators add quality to the sound although they reduce about 5-10% overal sound.

The next thing im thinking about doing is to replace the mbrp x-pipe section with a better x-pipe. Probably 2.25 inch diameter x-pipe.

You can check if any resonated X pipe will fit if you want to do something x pipe.

yea good idea. i should have think of this in the first place.

You can never overkill the drone anyway. Stinger catbacks sucks in general. I wish we have corsa.

I have a Kunstwerk valved exhaust and don't think it was a waste of money in the slightest. When I want a quieter car I simply press a button on the remote that I keep within hands reach, and the car is close to stock levels decibel wise with a much deeper/more pleasing tone. When I'm ripping around and want to enjoy more sound I press the other button to open the valves.

What size exhaust tips are needed for the 22 facelift rear diffuser? The fake exhaust is about 130cm x 115 cm in size.

So i endedup getting them installed. They really did as they said they would. I mean every once in a while you'll hear a tiny bit of droning at a certain RPM (not sure what gear) but it's almost unnoticeable. Absolutely nothing like it sounded like without the resonators. 100% worth it.

I didnt see this until now and ive had the MBRP resonators on for a couple months not. Im more than happy. They did exactly as I hoped they would.

how much sound do the added resonators kill?

The best exhaust is the stock exhaust. Aftermarket exhausts just make it sound like an old riced-out Honda. The lack of ability to get any decent sound out of the 3.3L is one of the things I dislike the most about the platform. I may move over to a m440i with the B58 just for that reason lol (well that and the fact that I can move up to around 600whp for cheap too lol).
