Intake/exhaust/intercooler and newly placed 0.022 gap HKS

no access to 93 or e85 and don’t want to run octane booster.

This is Shell 91 octane.

Am I good ? @Terry@BMS

Lots of timing corrections. I’d try a different gas station. Not good enough quality

Alright thanks. I’m gonna try some different gas stations.

Looks pretty normal for 91 octane. You're always going to have timing corrections on lower grade fuels. You could go down to map1 but will end up making less power. So I'd just run and enjoy as is.

Not to be rude Terry in any way sir but that file shows that is a map1 run. Just looks like a lot of time in corrections for a map1 run

I stand corrected, read the map wrong.

There isn't anything you can do for that other than increasing the octane, trying different stations, etc. I've give map2 a whirl also. You'll have the same level of corrections, maybe more, but probably end up making more power. Might be worth logging v24 firmware also to see if the fuel changes have any impact on that.

Thanks to both of you. No matter what gas stations I go, they are still crappy. I even logged map 0 with this current fuel. Had .8 to 1.5 corrections. I’ll try map 2 to see what corrections I get. I’ll just enjoy the car and tune. It pulls hard though! Probably from my upgraded fmic.

Is there a new firmware btw?

What would I look for in the log files when you say "lots of timing corrections"?
Thanks

On map1 and 2 you want the timing corrections to generally be as close to zero as possible across the timing columns 1-6.
Three or less is reasonable, over three and you want to start looking at going back one map Until you can improve fuel. Do a good pull on map1 with a fuel you like. Then compare the 6 columns number and if the corrections show as less than three your good on that map. If your generally seeing 0-1 then jump one map up and try again.

Should I look at the absolute number for the ign1-6 columns? It seems that ign1 is different than 2-6. For example, in the log posted in this thread, I see for column L36 - L55, (ign1 at 99% throttle) the values starting at 10 and increasing to 17. Is this the actual timing advance? Where I see 0's are in columns Z-AD (ign2-6) but some occasional positive numbers like 0.8 and 3.8. Are these the corrections that we don't want to see?
Thanks again for your insights.

2-6 is where I focus. When you see any number above zero that is a correction. You might see a random elevated number, but it’s more a pattern or correction that I look for to indicate the car is pulling timing.

Ok thanks.
I know what to look for in my own logs now

Keep in mind on lower grade fuels there will always be some corrections. If you try to tune for none you'll end up making less power than factory. So in those cases you'll use them to guide you as to whether map1 or map2 is a better fit. Usually map1 makes for a cleaner log but map2 ends up making more power, even with the additional corrections.

OK, Thanks Terry. That makes sense. So we are confident that the overall system is good enough not to cause damage to the motor even if you use a higher map for the grade of fuel (for map1 and map2 at least) since it will change the timing as it goes.
