Map 5 JB4 runs amazing on the Stinger.

With the Fuel-IT flex fuel sensor kit the JB4 will tune on the fly for E85 mixtures, within E0-E50. To get beyond E50 we'll need to make some flash changes once at home flashing opens up.

I plan on buying it ASAP. Just lost a month wages traveling to Greece. BTW I discovered something important and Stung pointed it out above. I've been miscalculating my E85. I used the calculator, but like a dumbass didn't even think about the fact that with gas light, or 30-40 mile range... I still have 2 gallons of gas or whatever in the tank. So my calculation of about 4-4.5 gallons E85 is way too high. I need to be at more like 2-3 gallons E85 based on my fueling habits. The last two tanks... the car was down on power and I added 2-3 gallons 91 and guess what? Power came right back. I hope I haven't damaged my engine at all. It's running fine (besides that annoying coolant smell that hasn't gone away in 3.5 months ownership despite no leaks).

YW. Best to log and view IGN 1-6 as you could have ignition drops in individual cylinders so just watching one is useless.

The numbers are simply degrees of timing advance. They will vary a lot depending on on throttle input, boost, etc so you mainly just to make sure your timing stays stable and/or increases as you go through the rpm range. Look out for multiple drops(staircase effect) as that’s a sign you aren’t running enough octane for the boost levels.
Yeah Terry and others ran low-mid 12s with just intakes and limited traction, but 11s are hard to do without AWD traction & the brake switch.

Map5 is +7 psi and around 20-21psi on latest firmware.

Map7 is really pushing our turbos & fuel system to the limits and e30 isn’t recommended for a few reasons, especially with mixing only 91 octane. Our fuel pressure drops with ethanol and high boost levels which is why race gas is recommended instead. Im not 100% clear on what bolt-ons he’s referencing but likely FBO would be best for most airflow in & our to keep EGTs down. I’d follow Terry’s suggestions and only go up to map5 with e30 mixes.
You need to be careful and accurate with your e85 mixes. As people have said too much ethanol with high boost can drop fuel pressure which is dangerous and could potentially hurt your engine. If you’re going to use it often or keep experimenting then get the fuel-it sensor kit so you really know how much you’re running. Also make sure to mix it up the best you can before going WOT so you know it’s blended well and not just getting the e85 that you put in first.

And yes there has been some significant changes over the last two firmware updates and supposed to be smoother and better power delivery overall.

Just had it happen again. I figured it out though. When I fill I still have 1-2 gallons in there.. so I gotta drop E85 to more like 2.5-3 gallons instead of 4.5. Once I added 2.5 gallons of regular 91 my power returned. As I just said above, I hope I haven't damaged the engine, but it's running great still. I will be getting the kit ASAP.

Fuel it sensor is great for E85 integration. Perfect for tuning well with the JB4. Available at BMS

That’s likely just the coolant that runs through the throttle body and is most noticeable when it’s cool/cold out. It’s used to warm up the IAT when temps are around 60 or lower.

I and several others have experienced the same thing and you should be able to eliminate it with the DIY coolant bypass.0B0CF81E-17A6-47C0-A620-8893A055386B.webp0EC69644-6D33-4DA9-9FA1-B35ACF8B5384.webp

I hope people figure out that the ethanol content of E85 is not a fixed mixture so worrying about 1/10ths of a gallon without any actual testing is pointless.

YMMV

Agreed. Fuel_It has a testing kit that is relatively inexpensive.

This is map5 pull on pump 91/e30 mix. Is it normal for timing to drop right after gear change but then stabilize or trend upward? See image of what I'm talking about....I'm assuming this is not a example of "staircasing down" at WOT.030720_1013.webp

I would consider that normal. Remember that timing, generally speaking, has less advance when you're at a lower RPM. After a gear change your timing is retarding a little bit to match the lower RPM's.

Personally, I'd do at least a couple logs of 3rd gear runs, from about 1,500 rpm and up, floor it (but don't go past the kickdown) and bring it up to redline, then let off. Logs like that will give you more resolution/detail with your ignition timing. I find them to be very helpful, in addition to pulls like what you just logged.

Yes timing is proactively cut in all cylinders during the transmission shift process. Those are not the timing drops you're looking for.

Will map 5 run with just boostane and 93? I am wondering what the long term effects of running boostane is. I don't want my injectors and sparks to get clogged with green crud.

I run about 4oz of Boostane Pro or 5 gallons E85 to a full tank and DD Map 5. At 35,000mi now. At 40,000 I plan on changing plugs. I'll know then how it's going.

Thanks. I would like to see what the ends of your sparkys look like.

You'd need to log and evaluate it, depends on how strong of a boostane mix likely. MMT will turn plugs and tips orange.

Alright - I think I will just stick with Map 3 with 96 Octane.

Map5 does not taper in higher RPM. Horsepower/Torque does not fall off as much after it peeks in lower RPM. "Pulls right through". According to the JB4 forum it calls for E85 mixtures of up to 30%. Not sure if there is a difference between that and E30. Hopefully someone can chime in on it.

So using BoostTine it would be about 5 oz. per 16Gal 93 oct fill up? And each 1 QT can has about 32 Oz?

It pulls hard as hell! I love running map5. I have stage1 tcu, and a backend tune, cat delete arkd.p. and mbrp pro exhaust. Love this set up for the everyday driver. 2018. Awd gt2

Do you run E30 mix for map5?

So using 91 octane plus say 8 oz of boostane one could run map 4 and 5 in guessing. Older thread but ill try it if no one chimes in lol

I know maps got renamed at one point. Not sure anymore if old map 5 is now 4? I've heard 91 base on map 4 is iffy. Map 3 should be fine though.
