So I just got the jb4 installed and decided to drive around to test it out, and am experiencing issues with the car. Can someone help to see if there is any hint of what's wrong in this log? Anytime I mash the pedal it feels like it's about to take off, but then just a sec later the car seems to hit some safety and is slowed immediately. I now also have a CEL (0049). Thanks in advance.

Looks like a Map 2 run. I’m not an expert but it looks a little jumpy. Did you change your plugs and gap what fuel are you using?

Looks like over boost, what mods on the car? Even on map0 it's over boosting so likely to be a hardware issue.

Hi Terry, thanks for taking a look. These are my current mods:
2020 GT1 RWD: UP downpipes & midpipes, Borla cat-back exhaust, Injen intakes, ADD W1 catch can, UP intercooler, HKS spark plugs, Eibach sway bars, ATQ subframe collar kit, JB4

I am just using 93 pump gas. Hks plugs @ .024 I think it looks jumpy bc I immediately let off the gas once the "limp" condition occured.

It's the downpipes that are causing the over boost I bet. The best fix is EWG control, but update to v22 firmware, set DWP = 100, and see if that helps. You can email me a log after the update as I don't check this forum as often.

I’m dealing with this issue now. Not sure if kia factory ecu can keep up with the mods. When I get on the gas around 80-100mph my turbo/ boost goes out I’ll pull over turn the car off for a min hear a click sound and boost/ turbo are back on. Funny thing is when I have the JB4 connected the car runs smoothly with no problems. I’m thinking of putting my factory downpipes back on. This issue didn’t Occur until I installed ark down pips with MBRP .. anyone can give me any advice or feedback

I just got the EWG kit in the mail and will be getting them installed this week. I hope it solves the overboost issues. If not, I will also be reverting to the factory downpipes. I'll let you know the results.

Pearl, are you running the EWG add on for your jb4? I finally got them installed on my car, and I am happy to report that I am no longer getting overboost issues! I took it for a few short runs in map 1 and 2 and it seems to be working very well! Before the EWG add-on, I was hitting overboost instantly and getting CEL.

No I’m not running ewg .. I’ll look into purchasing it some time this week. I was also seeing ultimate performance downpipes kit that claims to not overboost and not throw cel .. what’s your thoughts - Post in thread 'Performance with Secondary down pipes???'

I have those downpipes on mine and they do cause the overboost! If I could turn back time, I think I would just avoid the downpipe! I got this ewg add on to resolve the overboost issues. also, some of the bolts are very hard to reach, where they connect to the turbo studs. There is a very high chance of breaking the studs.

Sounds like if I don’t run the JB4 any longer I’ll just put back the downpipes or get an ecu tune from Tork
