I tried to install the wheel locks this morning and noticed my original lug nuts have a seated washer that is locked onto the lug nut. There are groove like pins which prevent the washer from being unseated from the lug nut. Has anyone else resolved this issue? And if so how? Thanks in advance. I'll probably make a call to a dealer as a standard procedure.

Our wheels appear to be lug centric. This washer doesn't come off because it is needed to keep the wheel aligned properly.

IMO wheel locks are more hassle than they're worth. If a thief wants your wheels they'll get them. You can purchase master key sockets online for any brand of lock and Dealers have the masters for the common brand(s) they sell. Where that fails, a rounded nut extractor will remove any lug-type wheel lock.

I'd put the money towards a dash-cam or better insurance.

I've heard the same. Especially with chrome wheel locks getting corroded and becoming difficult to take off.

So, I test fitted winter tires and wheels (NON-OEM from Tire Rack) this week. Tire Rack supplied Gorilla Nuts for the aftermarket wheels because they are cone seat not mag seat like the OEMS. Great. Problem I discovered is that KIA supplied lock nuts are CONE SEAT! WTF?

I called the dealership and talked to the Sales manager to clear this up. Parts Manager said they are what KIA recommends and I've confirmed that KIA doesn't have a mag seat lock nut, nor McGard for that matter. Sales Manager also talked to the mechanic who installed them, as I said that this shouldn't have happened. She confirmed that he brought the issue up 2 years ago with the PM, and was told to just put them on by PM (or lose your job, I presume).

They've refunded the $99+tax via a cheque, but we still haven't got locks on her wheels. I've ordered Gorilla item 73631T, because, based on the measurements provided on Amazon, the length and diameter should work, even though Amazon states that they won't fit on our Stinger. Wish me luck!

D’oh! Hit the wrong reply button. I’m wondering if the 73631t fit ok?
Cheers

I also hit the wrong reply!

YES! They fit perfectly and the tool is even the right hex size to match the OEMs, so you can use the factory supplied lug nut wrench with it.

Awesome, thanks. A real head scratcher how Kia has seemingly dropped the ball on this one.

The gorilla 73634t is a 24 nut set (same cost as 20) essentially there are 4 spares. Being the same length as oem nuts they don’t interfere w the cap. Have driven with them for several days with a re torque and no issues at all.
