Lozic ECU + TCU + AWD Tune

Is there a good explanation anywhere on the Lozic TCU options? I want to learn more about what the shifting pattern, shifting pressure, and "more powerful sport shift pattern" actually means. For those with one, what options are you guys choosing?
Shifting pattern: when (on what RPM) the gear changes/upshifts .. so if stock TCU shifts at 6750 rpm automatically, the tuned TCU will automatically upshift at lower RPM (5% or 8% sooner/earlier than 6750RPM) , which results in more power/ better acceleration

Shift/Line pressure: how strong/fast the shifting happens (results in less boost drop between gears) results in faster acceleration but less comfort on full throttle

More powerful sport shift pattern: means how the sport mode behaves with shifting in general (upshifting and downshifting) .. here Lozic can switch your regular sport mode with the new sport plus mode (like in the Genesis G70 2022), which holds gears much longer and the revs stay higher on moderate throttle and the car downshifts earlier to always stay in high RPMs to be ready for you when you step on it
This is very useful on track days if you don’t want to manually shift gears or want to have more fun with the car in general.
Just note that adding sport plus will replace your regular sport mode and on full throttle there shouldn’t be a difference in power just better throttle and boost response when you first step on the gas pedal because the RPM is high.

Torque limit Off: choosing torque limit OFF will remove launch control and the car will build much more boost on Launch if you want it to and will also do burnouts (can be useful for AWD cars with very good Tyres and for record chasers)
I don’t recommend it for RWD, as you will likely still be having traction issues while launching even with torque limit ON
Note that your car will still build boost on launch even with torque limit ON, it’s enough for RWD

Auto upshift when manually shifting: here you should be careful, if you choose “Yes” (even though it says “like stock”) the car will ALWAYS upshift automatically if it hits the the maximum RPM -5% or -8% .. you can never hold gears yourself (drifters take note as the car will upshift mid drift if hits max RPM)
On a stock TCU the car will automatically upshift unless you put it in sport and turn off traction and stability control off (so you have the choice)
But with the lozic TCU if you choose “YES” it’ll always upshift automatically even in sport mode with stability controll OFF.
And if you choose “NO” the car will hold gears for a long time and not auto upshift until you pull the upshift paddle (talking about manual mode of course) there’s is still a safety limit where it upshift eventually but it’s much longer than stock.
I have talked with lozic about it and he said he could program it to whatever you like if you told him specifically to, that’s why am explaining it here in detail for you so you know what to write in your order sheet.
He might add the option in the order sheet to make the auto upshifting by choice like the stock TCU (by turning ON/OFF stability control in sport mode for those drift events)

I personally went with (shifting pattern 5%, line pressure 2, torque limit ON, auto upshift, regular sport mode and no sport plus)

Wow! Exactly what I was looking for. Thanks so much for your time and response!

Man I want a TCU so bad...

Do you have the TCU installed already? How does it drive compared to stock? Does it get smoother or jerkier? I feel like stock is pretty jerky already and not sure if I want to make it worse

I can give you my experience with -7% and pressure 2. In all modes but sport the car feels very close to stock. The shifts are only slightly firmer. But when sport is selected things get very aggressive as they should IMO. The Stinger goes into beast mode. Shifts are firm and aggressive. If this isn't what you are looking for maybe go with pressure 0.

I’m okay with it, but I guess I was a little worried about affecting the life of the transmission. With the shift pressure at 2, will our transmissions hold up for the next 5 years?

This is just a theory but I think it'll hold up longer since the bands are less likely to slip with the higher pressure and that's generally what wears out on an auto trans.

I think my only regret with the TCU is not going with -8%. I went with -5% instead and I don't believe it can be re-tuned. Might just buy another one or take the time to get better at manual shifting.

you can always sell your current tune and try to gain as much money back and purchase the -8

Apparently, the Tork Stage 2 TCU tune disables trans auto upshift when in manual mode even with all the traction and stability controls on. Like it will not upshift at all, so all the people that complain about it upshifting itself now have a remedy. It's still a very daily driveable tune, downshifts are pretty tame. The 2-1 shift is noticeable but that's it.

I saw a Reddit thread where a Lozic TCU owner said that had different pressures set for different drive modes (3 for Sport, 1 for Comfort, I think). I didn't know this was possible. Can anyone confirm they've done this, or that it's an option?

Yeah, I agree about the popcorn. Good news is it's optional.

I think with all the brake snips and drag racing, the transmission has proven pretty tough!
I’ve had my jb4 for over 50k miles and I drive my car somewhat hard quite often I just can’t help it lol but at 103xxx I had to replace my transmission

What was wrong with it? Do you think that's a good life span considering your driving and mods? What did it cost?

I really have no context on how long a transmission should last...

It randomly made a loud bang and slipped out of gear then I could only manually shift up to 3 gear and it was slipping pretty bad 4th was gone . I wouldn’t say that’s a good lifespan but not terrible considering I wasn’t easy on it at all. It costed 3000 with labor for a brand new trans

Wow, $3K seems like a great deal. Any idea who has the most miles on their Stingers and no issues?

Got a YouTube channel by any chance? I swear I remember seeing your name there with stinger races.

But yes, either way I think this goes with any car. Driving style/aggressively and pedal to the metal with modifications will easily cause damage to any performance car.

Hope your car is running good now!

Yea that’s what I thought too I was expecting it to cost a lot more I currently have 105,xxx miles on it with no issues other than the transmission

Yea I have a YouTube channel it’s EastCoast Stinger haha I have a few races on there some recent ones too . The car is running good again thankyou !

Out of curiosity, did you ever change the transmission fluid throughout the life of the transmission? Did you buy the car brand new? And thank you for being the first person I've read that was actually open enough to admit they had transmission issues. But why post this on the Lozic thread?
