Lowering springs and your thoughts.

Looking for some insight! Just installed Eibach lowering springs on my 2019 GT2 AWD. Love the fitment, however the drive quality is worse than I expected. Yet I don’t think it is dialed in perfectly. Of course the car is a bit more stiff than stock as I suspected and am perfectly ok with but my main issues lie on the Highway. As soon as the car reaches 80mph+ there is tons of shaking and rattling. It will come and go. I’ve driven on multiple different roads to ensure that wasn’t the problem and the shaking continues. I wasn’t aware of anyone else having this problem so I was just wondering what could be causing this because I refuse to believe I made a bad purchase lol!

shouldn't be any shaking, just a lot more abrupt over dips and bumps and such. if the road is smooth, the ride should be smooth. Oh, did you get the car aligned? need to do that right away. otherwise, something is probably loose.

Usually you should drive for a week or two to allow the springs to settle. After that you'll need to take it in for an alignment. As for ride quality, I ran into the same issue with regretting lowering the car due to the crap north east roads until I purchased the Mando ECS unit recently and it smoothed out everything. If your car has the adjustable dampers it's the way to go!

To me, it sounds like you lost a wheel weight. It could be that the static balance is still okay, but the dynamic balance is off. I think you should check for a lost weight and/or have the wheels re-balanced.

For sure making an appointment to go get an alignment ASAP. Will let them know about the wheel weight as well.

I do have the adjustable dampers that comes with the GT2. Is the ride quality worth the price? After this I would have spent $1800 on suspension total. Not sure if I should just close my eyes and order it or if it helps the daily driveability a tad.

To me it was definitely worth it but definitely don't spend more money if you don't have to. My opinion, get the alignment and potential wheel weight issue done first. If you still dont like the ride your options are the mando unit or back to stock springs. My 2 cents.

My issue was just the livability for daily driving with the Eibachs on a lot of these north Jersey roads. The car sits low as it is. Several bump stop hits and countless scrapes later I switched back to stocks - a hell of a bullet to bite twice in labor costs, I know. I got over the unflattering AWD wheel gap for the sake of comfort, not to mention the f+r sways make most of the difference in handling anyway... but man, did she sit right. View attachment 68387
And this is the exact reason I went with the Ark GT-F springs as opposed to the Eibachs. the Arks makes daily driving MUCH better/tolerable; Especially in areas where the roads are bad.

Exactly what I wish I'd done. The GT-F's didn't come up on my radar until buyer's remorse brought me back here for the research I should have done before.

I would suggest a hard "NO" - on the Mando ECS10 if your main goal is to improve ride quality.

Hard yes for improving handling and playing with speed based damping profiles, but the built in MANDO ECS10 "comfort" setting is only marginally different than the default car settings in comfort mode.

Just my opinion, which is worth about $0.02

Im guessing you haven't attempted to use any of the advanced setting in the Mando unit.

Just ordered M&S springs & Ark front and rear sway bars it's going to be a different car looking forward to it. not really concerned about my suspension warranty, daily driving handling will be much better 2022
Does adding coil overs void the warranty ? I had a 10 year warranty on my 22 lol, but I do want coil overs done

There's no such thing as voiding the entire warranty (unless you poorly modded every system in the car). Obviously they would deny work on the coilovers since that's no longer OEM, but in most cases you should be fine. They generally have to prove whatever mod was If in doubt contact your dealer. This is not legal advice, just my opinion.

Since you on stock suspension. What size rims and tires are you running? Assuming this is a picture of your car on stock suspension.

That pic was actually when lowered. Fitment is still great at stock height. 19x8.5 +30 front, 19x9.5 +35 rear. 225/40r19, 255/35r19 respectively.

That is one of the best all-time Stinger pictures, the car just looks perfect - nice job!

How long were you lowered, and did you have any issues with alignment and tire wear when it was lowered?

That's some high praise - I appreciate that! The Stinger doesn't have a bad angle but I agree that one did come out especially well.

I was lowered for about six months. No real issues in terms of alignment/tire wear. The alignment dialed in by the shop after installing the springs held up well during that time.
