EDIT: My auto body guy I've used before is going to fix it for $150, we looked up the P.2.M panthera metal paint and it was in their system ready to be mixed, so 1 week with the chips unfortunately, but thankfully he's doing me a solid and pricing me real low.

Do you guys suggest getting the touch up pen or taking it to a body shop?

the back badge went great, I think I heated the front up to much

IMO, I would take it to the body shop...

You are the second forum member I've seen mess up their paint due to using a heat gun to remove the badges. Looks like people need to avoid them and try installing with just fishing line and plastic tools.

Yeah I used fishing line, which I did on my genesis badge. BUT, I didn't use a heat gun on the genesis which was also a way smaller badge.

But I think I just heated up to much, heated way less on the back and everything went fine.

Will the body shop have to order the paint from kia? I have a good body shop that has done some extensive work for me before so I will give them a ring.

That’s more than you can touch up. I’d definitely get it done at a shop. Had a spot from my front badge too and it’s still noticeable after using the touch up pen. Hoping for better after getting the car polished. For reference is my spot before touch up.

Ouch, that hurts! Sorry about that one. I recommend getting that resprayed by a pro.

Yeah probably the right option.

Will they have access to the paint though? Idk how soon Kia is able to get body shops the specific paint for these types of things, given that the car is still pretty new.

I don't know what possessed me to try this on my new car as I've never attempted to paint before. Maybe it was the $500 quote I got from my body shop. Anyways, here's my before and after photos using aeresol cans from automotive touch up. The paint protection on the front bumper actually made a nice border to paint around. If I were to remove it you would see obvious paint lines and I would have to paint the whole panel probably.
All in it was about 80 bucks in cans for paint, clear coat and primer.

I imagine the dealerships already have it, but beyond that I'd be speculating. I do know that the dealer we bought ours from contracts out to a shop next door, so as far as independent shops having access to the paint, I imagine it's possible...

Those pics are painful! Looks like the paint came right off, doesn’t seem to be bonded to the body very well. A hairdryer would definitely be safer for anyone else attempting this

Call me crazy! BUT! i've been wanting to incorporate some more red on my car in some way to signify the GT/Turbo aspect, nothing says GT or Turbo better then "red" and I think this will accent the brembos a bit more.. So I did this silly quick sketch on a paint app real quick. Obviously if I were to go about this I'd do it much more professional and have it measure out and evenly done..

I may ask the auto body what this would entail, maybe a pin-striping type job

EDIT: Scratch this, auto body will fix it for good price

I also had similar problems. My damages were far worse. Pics in my thread. The back was easier for body shops to fix. The front, required removing the bumper and trims to paint and blend correctly. They said they can't half ass the front or you would still notice it.

Hair dryer, nylon trim wedge and patience ladies and gentlemen, too much heat is causing the peeling paint. I just did my rear badge and had no problems getting the KIA off with destroying my paint.

Welp, I just tried to do my front badge just now and screwed it up too. I only used a hair dryer for a minute since I was so paranoid about overheating it. It's only 50 degrees where I am so it definitely didn't get hot at all, but I still screwed it up on the left side. I got the circular K badge so I could mount it like a centimeter off-center and cover it, but that'd annoy me knowing it's there. I think I might just order an oval badge and put the circle k on the rear and scrap the larger stinger script badge I had planned.

Edit: Nope, I decided to half-ass it as usual, so here it is just slightly off-center, covering my shameful paint scratches.

Looks good to me. Ain't no one gonna get down on their hands and knees and measure the hood badge.
