New to the forum!

I was looking for a good AWD sedan that is a bit more sporty, and it led me to the Stinger. Pretty sure it is what I want to go with! A few questions.

  • The mileage is 15,000, and price $22,900. From what I can see for a CPO with the 10yr 100k warranty that is pretty good.
  • I really would love to find a premium in my price range (under 25k). Those who own the base, do you have any regrets in not getting the premium?
  • The adage is to avoid the first model year of a vehicle. Are there any major issues with the 2018s?
  • Anything in general I should be excited, or nervous about in owning a Stinger?
Thanks so much ahead of time!

If you are looking for extra options, just browsing through autotempest, there are few premium under 25k. You still get 6/60 warranty on non-CPO or always add on 3rd party extended warranty.
Some of the minor issues that were on the 18's mostly carried on to 19+ so you just have to pick the right one.
I don't know which car you will be coming from. While 2.0 is great car, I would save up a bit more for a GT with V6. There are few under 30k.

thank you for the reply. Is Auto-tempest the go-to for used cars these days? I am used to autotrader and cars.com

Thanks for the info.

Can you tell me a bit more about the 3rd party extended warranty? On of the things that attracted me to Kia is the amazing warranty, and am hoping to replicate that somehow even if I need to supplement with a third party.

I also was looking at the stinger. It took me 2 years and 2 jobs but now I have a 2018 GT2. If your looking for the real deal, get the v6

I like autotempest as it compares few popular sites all in one place. I would still look everywhere to search for the right car. If you are willing to travel, there will always be deals out there.

I would do some search online for extended warranty. When I bought used cars before, I bought my extended warranty through my credit union. Low to no deduction and covered bumper to bumper including electronics at good price.

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...
Thanks everyone.

I know there is much more power with the V6, but I have a decent drive to work so I would prefer fuel efficiency over power.

Damn near used territory now. :( At least you will be "intimate" with your car when done. :D
Getting close, yet gt2s sell for low-mid 30s around me. I think I should be alright if I can get it to fit under 30.

Hi, Drew: welcome to the forum. This should be fun for you. :)

Sounds like the 2.0L is your buggy. Power is wonderful, and the 2.0L is no slouch: it will go tons quicker than you'll need 99% of the time. My reasons for insisting on the 3.3L have nothing to do with anyone's reasoning but my own. If you're confident that the performance of the 2.0L will satisfy, then get it.

The Singer across all trims did not demonstrate any contrary "first year model" issues. Individual vehicles have imperfections. But the vast majority of vehicles are virtually trouble free. I base this assertion on over 22 months of daily frequenting this forum and taking an avid interest in other owners' problems (I'm not that common, this way). The very first issue that I clicked on was paint quality; specifically paint chipping/flaking, i.e. adherence. Discussion of Stinger paint quality (Was - Paint Chip Issue) Well under 4% of the forum membership have responded to the poll. Taking into account a sizeable portion of the membership that don't own a Stinger (c. 25%, my estimation), and c. a third of poll respondents saying "No" to experiencing paint issues, we arrive at a conservative estimate of c. 3% of poll respondents who say "Yes, I have paint issues". These include ALL issues, which range from a tiny chip under the forward-lower corner of the driver's side headlight assembly, to actual chips and flakes of paint in areas not attributable to road attrition. The most common of these are the forward edge of the hatch, the rear edge of the roof, the rear edge of the hood (watch for this one especially, as ignorant handlers have pulled up on the windshield wiper arm and scraped the rear edge of the hood). Short version is: check out the car you have your eyes on thoroughly; the odds are heavily on your side that there are no paint quality issues.

The other very common complaint (equally rare) is extraneous noises; typically a hatch lid thump/clunk/rattle. Much less common (and non existent in your base trim) is a sunroof "rattle": the hatch noise has been quite easy to fix (the sunroof, not so much). Other "ticks" or annoying noises sometimes come from inside one or more doors, or the dash. But these are very rare indeed. You'll know when you test drive the car if that vehicle has anything making extraneous noises.

Vehicle history is the bottom line: has the car you'll buy a trouble-free history of 15K miles? If so, then don't borrow trouble; it should continue trouble-free; so say the odds. Mine is trouble-free at c. 34.4K miles and almost two years.:)

Hi, Drew: welcome to the forum. This should be fun for you. :)

Thank you so much for the warm welcome, and the information!

The more I research I am thinking I want to cooled front seats. So looks like the 2018/2019 Premium 2.0 might be what I am going with :)

The loaded 2.0 isn't that bad. The new GT Line 2.0 is actually pretty nice but a lot more expensive than a 2018 2.0 lol

I have a base, it's plenty fast most times, outside of street racing or something like that. :) I do sometimes wish I had gotten a premium just for the better headlights, so if your budget can stretch a little, I would go for that. Pricewise, that doesn't seem too bad. I got mine for about 25000 before tax and tags, so if you wait for a few more months, you might be able to catch a new one for a pretty good deal with incentives.

Unfortunately my current lease is ending, so I need something on April 1 :)

I own both a Base and GT Stinger. The value is definitely with the GT model and yes the 2.0T does have plenty of kick but it's nothing like the GT. It just doesn't make sense money wise to do a premium base when the GT model is their with all of the available discounts. If you are willing to do another lease they are giving amazing rebates to do so.

Most of the first year issues were with the GT. There's the brake "warping", and some transmission/rear differential issues that are rare. The 2.0L missed those.
I've got a 2.0L, it's a great car, but the gas mileage isn't that much better. I didn't need a high performance car, but wanted a family car that drove well.
My previous car was a Legacy GT and the Stinger 2.0L is similar.

I got mine to be a family car as well and like u just said the gas mileage is not much better. So it only makes sense to go towards the GT. Look for a used GT or do a lease on a new GT
