The brushed on "stuff" is a lubricant ....................no adhesive is used when installing or balancing tires
Well guess I was given bad info from a high end wheel and tire shop. My apologies.
High end wheel and tire shop? Then maybe THEY use an adhesive; maybe they are experimenters at the cutting edge.Well guess I was given bad info from a high end wheel and tire shop. My apologies.
The explanation I got was when the lubricant dries it acts as an adhesive to keep the tire from slipping on the wheel under hard breaking or acceleration.High end wheel and tire shop? Then maybe THEY use an adhesive; maybe they are experimenters at the cutting edge.
That actually makes sense to me. And I can see why taking it easy for 48 hours would be good advice for anyone with the kind of torque that Stingers have. The explanation I got was when the lubricant dries it acts as an adhesive to keep the tire from slipping on the wheel under hard breaking or acceleration.

My tires balanced at Discount always seem to come out of balance....I am obsessive about tires because they are the only part of the automobile which touches the ground, thus I've gone through many sets of tires over the years.
In all my experiences, Discount Tire is the absolute worst for balancing because of the cheap weights they apply. The damn things do not stay attached for long, thus out of balance conditions happen frequently. On the other hand, Costco, Sam's club and Firestone/Tires Plus all seem to use weights that stay on forever.
Did you get your tires from Discount Tire originally? Just curious if there is another national chain to avoid.
