Ok so I live near Tampa, FL, have had my 2019 GT1 for about 1 month, came with the 19' Summers of course, I got up to 130 on I-4 a few times and it was like I was doing 40mph (I don't normally speed pls spare the lecture)

So I'm heading up north for the holidays, so went and had some Continental DWS06 All-Seasons put on....and.....WTF happened to my car. I can barely hit 100 now without having a death grip on the wheel, inflation is correct.

Are Summer tires THAT much of a difference maker?

What are you experiencing? Shaking? Is the car no longer tracking straight?

Any change in sizing with the all seasons?

Not for me. Swapped the summers for Nittos. Maybe the all-seasons were not balanced properly??

Not that much of a difference from All-Suck to Max Performance (Winter tires are a different story). I don't have a personal experience with Continental DWS06, but I tend to think Continental tires are well built and are more than enough to provide stability at high speed. Please elaborate what you felt, maybe some of us could shed a light on the issue.

Assuming they put them on the same wheels and said wheels aren't bent. With that in mind - sounds like the new tires aren't balanced properly. The installer should have done that, or the weight fell off.

Some more details on what you are experiencing would aid us in providing some guidance.

Ditto on the unbalanced suggestions above. What else could it be? Maroons put the wheels on wrong, i.e. front to rear, because ultra maroons don't know what a staggered setup is, etc.

I went from Michelin Pilot summers (at 10K miles) to Nitto Motivo UHP A/S, and although I haven't yet pushed the car above c. 120 MPH, it felt just fine. I've had the Michelins up to 155 and the car felt just as stable and smooth as at "40". The limit on the Motivos I expect to be the same. Cornering? Not so much; the summers are going to give the car more G in a turn. But not a lot more.

I put those same all seasons on mine and had zero issue. I've hit 100 and it felt like 40. No issues. I'd make sure they put the right sizes in the right spots and make sure they balanced and aligned them right.

I have experienced what you describe on a few occasions. In most cases, just going from "old and worn" to "new" should make a car feel like it is handling better, but I've had a couple of instances where it was the opposite. I can't speak to those specific tires but I can relate to what you are feeling..

I just put on my winter wheels and tires that I bought from TireRack. Have only had the car up to 85, but all felt good. Can't wait until spring so I can put my summer performance tires back on.

Ok guys, happy to report that I took it to another shop and yes, the place I got the tires from didn't balance them properly at all. So all is fixed thankfully but yeah was freaking out earlier because it was like a totally different car

So the first shop didn't screw up which rims went where? Put the wrong tires on the rims, etc? Just crappy balancing? How can a tire place not do the most fundamental thing, BALANCE?!

Just an FYI, don’t do hard accelerating or breaking for 48 hours after getting tires on. My understanding is that it takes the adhesive up to 2 days to fully cure. So if you do accelerate hard or break hard during this period it can throw off the balance of your tires. Or the shop may have not done a good job balancing them.

?

They don’t super glue your tires on mate.

I've seen a brush (kind of like a basting brush) run around the inside of the rims, but I thought it was a kind of water-soap solution to aid in sealing.

It’s saopy water or a rubber safe lube to help lube the tires so they don’t get damaged when stretching over the rim.

THERE ISNT ANY ADHESIVE USED FOLKS.
