Kia Stinger GT2 was on the top of my list until reading a few quality concerns with the seeds in with the paint. I'm now on Lincoln MKZ Reserve 3.0 T all wheel drive. Does anyone have any experience with the linking or comparison information thank you.

I feel the same way. The paint and other problems are unacceptable. I'm back to looking at Audi A5 coupe or BMW 4 series.

MKZ is FWD based and Stinger is RWD based so not really comparable.
But if you like then go for it.
I love my stinger even if the paint might chip.

The MKZ should be a nice ride but it's more of a comfy car and the Stinger a sporty car. And as others have mentioned, the MKZ is FWD based where the Stinger is RWD based. The good thing about the MKZ is I THINK it has the Focus RS AWD system which kicks @$$. It seems there have been a few issues with different cars here and there but it doesn't seem like these problems are consistent with all Stingers. If one can wait, it's always a good idea NOT to get an all new car the first year it comes out. It appears KIA did a decent job getting the Stinger to market with minimal issues and no recalls. I have a feeling the 2019's will correct at least most of these issues and I'm hoping the color combos and features that are missing in the US market finally make it here.

Yes is agree. Because it has the focus AWD is the only reason I considered a FWD based lincoln. I will be ready to purchase around November but aiming for a 2019 model.

The problems you are so concerned about are not in fact systemic to the Kia Stinger or Kia autos. Yes, there will be various cars that will have problems, but that is with each and every make and model that is made. Some more than others, some less. As for Kia in general, their quality rating has been outstanding for the past three years. Go ahead, if money is not an issue, and buy what you want. As I currently drive a really fresh Kia Stinger with a Q50 in my garage also, I could have bought a Porsche as I tend to buy what I think are beautiful cars. With the Stinger, I got what I wanted. A car that is beautiful, fast, well made, and will turn heads. As I do not race it, I will forgo a engine tune to up the speed and power. An under 12 second quarter and a under 4.0 is not what I need. But it is there for the taking.

I agree with @Fred Pahlke. My GT2 is so far flawless. Kia has two consecutive years of #1 J.D. Power awards for quality. My paint is perfect except under the rear license plate area but still no problem. I've waxed every inch of it. Love the car.

I've mentioned this in another thread but I have had 3 KIA Optima Hybrids and this is the first one that I got paint chips on but it was from getting pelted by stones from a truck carrying stones on the highway. Also it's my first dark color Optima and I guess that makes it shows up more. I was annoyed when I saw it, I even went to see what it would cost to repaint the hood. The guy at the paint shop looked at me like I was crazy and said get some touch up paint, it's not a flaw with the paint, it's because of the hits. Over on the Optima forum some folks complained about peeling bumper but it wasn't widespread in my opinion. As mentioned, every brand will have folks that will complain about varying issue. Let's be honest, folks in the forums are a small portion of owners of any vehicle so you will hear about it as you peruse the posts. You also will hear a lot more folks saying they don't have the issue but bad news travel faster than good and when we hear something we start to get skeptical.

A lot of folks looking at KIA now are folks that would have never bought one and don't know the changes KIA has made to put them where they are today. In their minds, KIA is the same company that sold cheap cars over 20 years ago. Folks are shocked to know that they are close in price to their Japanese competitors and now with the Stinger selling at a price point normally reserved for "luxury" cars, they are really losing their mind that KIA can sell a car at that price point. Even the press are shocked to hear that there are more of the expensive Stingers being sold compared to the lower trim. Those of us that came over due to the Optima from luxury brands can attest to the improvements they have done to this vehicle to make it better each year. With the Stinger, they pulled out the stops and made a great performing car! As with any car in it's first year, there are bound to be some teething problems, so far the things that have cropped up are minor and are being handled by KIA.

If driving is your passion, then the Stinger is a great bargain when compared to cars costing much more than it does. Any luxury car in it's price point doesn't compete with it on space or performance, you have to go to a higher tier and as seen on Autoblog's story on this, it still outruns them. All that being said, you are the one making the decision on what is best for you. Get the car that makes you happy!

The Stinger was the car to make me happy until I got caught up on the worn seat and chipping paint threads. I always said the stinger was exactly what I have been looking for, but did not want to spend 50k if there was mass quality issues on the car.
With that said there is a 80% chance I will be waiting until 2019 model anyway.

Hang in there, they should be dropping mid summer if not earlier. KIA's known to listen to customers and adjusting things year by year. I want one but it won't be until the end of this year or next before I can make that happen. I also like the look of the K900 and if they price them the same, I may go K900. Either one would be a great buy in my book.

I have to agree with @Waynerm002 here. i was a new car service manager for a GM-Subaru-BMW dealer. I saw many nit-picking paint flaws in all manufacturers including BMW. In fact the infinite "silver" variations of the BMW paint were a nightmare for my body shop because of paint on the hoods, and poor clearcoating. GM had problems with white. It's common on a very small percentage of every car on the planet. Cars take a beating on the road from insects, hail, sand, rocks, etc. After a year or so, nothing looks absolutely new. Not reason enough to pick one car over another, IMHO. If there is a problem, warranty will fix it.
