I don't understand why black/dark interiors somehow equate with performance cars. Choices black, black with dark red inserts and black with grey inserts. Even the grey interior available only with that bright blue exterior, has a black headliner, pillars, dashboard, carpet, console etc. The 2.0T has a light headliner and is much more open feeling.

My complaint is that the Premium is available with a light interior leather (light gray) only in Pearl White exterior colors. I agree that black interiors suck.

I got a blue GT2 AWD but almost didn't because it DID NOT come with the black interior.

What is it with black. It is hot in the sun, it gets and looks dirty, it makes the interior seem smaller, it makes the interior seem like a cave, light opens everything up. Most higher priced cars have lighter interiors. It makes the Stinger seem like a Honda Fit.

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...
Just noticed on the KIA website that you can build more trims with a red or gray interior now. Looks like they are still gauging the market and adapting to what consumers want. Give it some time and you may get your wish!

Not in Premium. Only Pearl White can have a light gray leather interior and all of those are going to the coast dealers.

I agree with you and don't like the stereotype that black interior equates to a performance car, however this is an ongoing trend for a few reasons.

Most performance cars throughout history typically focused on "performance" enhancing items instead of esthetics, so standard black and Teutonic interiors became the norm for these types of vehicles. Luxury vehicles went the opposite route and focused funds improving interior spaces with expensive looking & light colored leathers, etc. The fact is that almost every Ferrari/Lamborghini made has a dark interior and almost every Bentley/Rolls has a light interior. This wont be changing anytime soon, but at least the trend is moving toward a combination of light leathers with dark trim for luxury sport cars like the Audi S7.

I give Kia credit for mimicking the high-end luxury/sport look almost exactly, but unfortunately they made it exclusive to the GT2 with Micro Blue exterior. I absolutely love the blue, but had to upgrade to the GT2 just to get the "luxury" Gray Nappa leather interior. Even though the headliner, etc. is dark the light leather throughout makes a night and day difference and still feels very open in comparison to the black on black.

FYI- The dash, console and any materials in direct sunlight must be dark to avoid reflections. That is simply a safety feature built into almost all vehicles. The trick is to find a perfect mix of light leathers with dark accent trims, and think Kia nailed it with the Blue GT2! Unfortunately they dont offer that combo anywhere else so only a select few are lucky enough to enjoy it.

But good luck on your search, hope you find what you're looking for and hope you get to join our Stinger HIVE too.

StungBlueGT2, having lived in Europe for 21 years and been in the capitals, Switzerland and the Riviera, I disagree that almost all Ferraris and Lamborghinis have black interiors. I personally owned a Lotus Esprit with a tan Connelly leather interior. The dashboards etc. were the same colors as the interior and there were reflections but the exoticness of the cars negated those reflections. The "select few" statement is also false as I am waiting for a Pearl White Premium with a light gray leather interior to arrive in a couple of weeks, supposedly from the factory. This is a standard option on the Kia Build Your Own site. In conclusion I have to say that either you are uninformed or you do not know what you are talking about.

terrylharris, I appreciate and respect your opinion, however I'm not uninformed and pride myself on being a very educated auto enthusiast.

I'm simply speaking about facts from multiple sources and my own personal experiences. I live near one of the wealthiest cities in America and see 3-5 Ferrari/Lamborghini's every single day. I'd say at least 7/10 have a black/black interiors with the occasional tan or red alternative. Even the majority of Lotus's were made in black/black with newer versions adding a "luxury" option to get the tan or lighter color interior. Again these are just generalities, but overall light color leathers or interiors were developed to add a luxury feel, or the opposite of the typical Teutonic black the sportier versions use. And you are proving my point as there are tons of Stingers with Black interiors, but you are waiting for one very rare version with a light gray interior just like I did for my Blue GT2.

Facts are facts and suggest that you do more research before negatively reacting to other peoples comments. But good luck with your new Stinger and happy motoring!

I wanted my new 2019 GT1 in Panthera metal and gray interior. There was only one on the east coast & my dealer couldn't get it. I settled for black, but learned to love it.

I had an Audi allroad a few years back. It had a light grey interior. I picked up a date and she was wearing a new pair of fashion jeans. Those damn jeans stained those light leather seats and I was never able to get it completely out. I liked that car, but that was the end of lighter colored interiors for me.

................and what about her ??

I disagree that almost all Ferraris and Lamborghinis have black interiors.

Here in Atlanta, quite a few exotic/high-end performance cars I see around town and at Caffeine and Octane (North Americas largest monthly car show) have interior colors other than black. Looking at actual numbers of cars available, Ferrari is about half, Porsche is about 1/3, but Lamborghini is almost all black.

I personally chose my SWP for the "red" interior, I wanted the blue but did not want black or grey interior. I'm happy enough as I love the exterior color, but my Stinger replacement will have a tan/saddle interior, and I will limit my shopping to cars that offer that. At this point, leaning towards the C8 (I've got 22 months..)

When I got my 2019 GT2 with Panthera exterior and Grey interior they had 3 identical cars on the lot.

I loved it. The color combo sold me on it.

I was cross shopping it with a 2019 Genesis G70 Design edition. However, the G70 has a completely white interior. Literally everything in the interior is white. That is just too much white.

The G70 Design edition cars are worth several thousand more than the regular G70 cars and even a couple thousand more than the Stinger. However, I think that ALL white interior might scare most second hand buyers away.

I have the premium in Panthers Metal with the white(grey) interior
Yes they have made more colors available now. My post was referring to the initial run of Stingers in 2018. When I ordered a Premium in January of 2018 the light grey interior was only available in the Pearl White exterior. After 3 months of waiting the car still had not come in so I bought a Silky Silver GT in March of 2018.
