Not even on a busy road or the highway and some jackass on his phone swerved and sprayed a bunch of rock my way.. Two tiny chips immediately turned into a large crack across the windshield...

So my Eibach sway bar money is now going towards my insurance comp to get it replaced...

As much as I love my car.. damn it’s had a black cloud following it...

Sorry David and the K8 team... The mrs will stab me if I buy sway bars before I get this fixed..

Good news is that the first week of June I will be doing an order with you.. thanks for being awesome!!!

I think you may be cursed!

Many insurance companies include glass coverage without making you pay the deductible. I know esuarnace does. Call and check.

I carry two windshield repair kits in my cars so I can jump out on the road and fix a chip before it becomes a crack. Good insurance if your deductible is a big one like mine.

Yes on repairs but no on replacement..

Esurance replaced mine - no charge. They sent out Safelite to where I worked. Done. It was a couple years ago. Maybe their policy has changed.

EDIT: It varies by state. Some states require it to be fully covered, some not. I got lucky (for once).

Yep, mine chipped today also...1500 miles only. Damn AZ roads. Penske Glass is coming to office to chip repair. Its way low, below the black, on the PAX side so hopefully the chip repair works.

In AZ, full glass is included on most insurance policy with $0 deduct. Ill go for the repair first and then replace if needed. Guarantee the ins co doesnt want to see the replace bill!

Yeah same here with a cracked windshield that needs to be replaced. Safelite has it for $1108 w/o heads-up display or lane departure warning. Ugh

Same thing happened to mine....

I'm on my 3rd windshield after two rock chips turned into cracks. Unfortunately, the slope of the windshield limits the chip locations that can easily be fixed. Luckily my insurance covers all but a $100 deductible.

When I cracked my Audi A6 windshield I demanded the insurance to replace only OM windshield and after several phone calls did not pay anything and got OM windshield, ask for OM.

I’ve had StateFarm since I was 16. Always have had 100% glass coverage. Thought this was the norm?

I put Clearplex on the windshield since it's pretty expensive on the GT2. Not a perfect solution, but a good one. It only lasts a couple years tops, and after like 2 weeks I scratched it at a gas station because my installer never said anything about not using squeegies on it. That said, it definitely takes the hits from rocks and sand like a champ. I've had some pretty bad rock hits on the highway and it's only put little divots in the plastic instead of the glass.

Just had Safelite fix a small chip yesterday, want to avoid windshield replacement even though it’s covered by insurance. Tech from safelite said they can do all the calibrations needed if windshield needs to be replaced

Spoke to Safelite today if you request OEM Windshield they will install it. I have the GT2 with HUD and all the safe features; lane departure, accident mitigation built into the center of the windshield. They can calibrate it and will be coming onsite.

How much did they quote you?

My deductible is $500 with my insurance company, therefore insurance will cover anything beyond that. I didn't ask for the cost, but earlier I call my Kia dealership and they were asking about $1300 for the windshield.
