So I have have been able to test out the lap3 protuner for 2 weeks now with K&N intakes, lap3 cat-less downpipes, Ark cat-back andHKS m45il spark plugs. I have only tested in mode #2 and #3. The pros: it is soo smooth, the car really feels factory but with loads more power. I actually compared it to a stock stinger in both modes (i had a 300lb passenger) and I just destroyed him. Very hard to explain how great it works, doesnt feel like a piggyback tune tbh, feels like it is a legit ecu tune. The cons: expensive(worth it), it is a pain in the ass when installing for the first time if you have no idea how to find the crank sensor, the app is pretty bad tbh, needs a big update(simply does the job, but not very intuitive). I had the JB4 since it was first available, but the Lap3 is without a doubt, performance wise, the winner.

The lap3 takes care of the engine light with the downpipes right? Did you have a light on with jb4?

It does take care of the light, I did not have downpipes with the jb4, because I know other ppl who had them and the lighy kept coming on, idk if theyve updated it since though.

What made you switch from jb4 to lap3?

My wife bought it for me, but I kept having issues on map3 and 5, it kept stuttering or wouldnt change gears, loss of power at the most inconvenient times and i kept complaining, so she ended up buying it for me lol. Honestly im glad she did man, wish i could show u guys how great it is, although when Jb4 worked correctly it was great too. So far i have had 0 issues.

The only comment that matters here is that your wife bought it lol......gave her a winner badge via you.....my wife would not even buy me an air filter for the car she totally hates when i spend money on the car i have to lie and say the part went bad.....but eventually she gets it lol...so far intakes went bad, bolw off valves went bad, exhaust went bad, ecu went bad, etc.......lol

Glad you're enjoying the Lap3. How did you handle the spark plugs? Did you recap the stock ones or decide to get entirely new ones?

How does it compare to a proper working JB4?

The Jb4 is great, but the power band is just soo much smoother with the lap3. The power feels instantaneous and pulls all the way. I wish I could show you guys the performance this delivers over the jb4. Again the Jb4 is great and all, this is just better. If money id tight however i would still recommend the jb4, but if its np lap3 is the way to go.

Dragy it.

Matter of fact, couldn't you hook the JB4 up and log the LAP3 on Map0? That would be interesting apples to apples.

It's not apples to apples because he didn't have downpipes on the jb4 but does now with lap3. Those would make an extraordinary difference in both power and powerband.

Yes but using the JB4 logging would let us look at THE SAME LOG between ANY JB4 user and him. It would be trivial to find someone with downpipes and compare! Using the same logging program would be beneficial IMO.

Ah I missed that part! Yes, good point.

Unfortunately i also thought of this too late and sold it already.

Personally idk how much of a difference downpipes do, i can only give my impression with what i have now and what i had then. Idk if anyone has downpipes paired w the jb4 though.

Glad to hear you enjoy the new tuner!

Since the JB4 was brought up just to throw it out there, customers reported our v6 firmware dramatically improved the JB4's responsiveness and smoothness on all maps, and the new v7 firmware pushes the bar even further. So while you may prefer how it drives compared to v4 or v5 firmware, in conjunction with your new parts, doesn't mean you'll feel the same way about v6, v7, or v8 firmware. :)

Also I've not heard of anyone having shifting issues or anything like that but for future reference for anyone reading if any issues ever come up first step is to contact our tech support or throw up a post with details and a log so we can help you identify and resolve the issue.
