LAP3 just posted 600WHP Stinger GT

That's because on stock turbos, so far ECU tunes haven't produced better results than piggybacks.
Lap3 says their ecu tune doesnt make more power than their box. But they have a box for sale and not an ecu tune. But peak hp doesn't directy equate to 1/4 mile times.
Torks tune is about .3 faster than piggybacks. Fastest non snipped piggy was 11.94 with wmi and Tork ran 11.71 no snip and no wmi.
I was running 11.86 in a gt2 awd and most piggies with wmi runing high 11
9s to low 12s with mostly GTs, over 100 lbs lighter.

JB4 and Lap3 both have 11.5 cars. The problem with the tork tune is it screws up your ability to launch via the burnout switch for some reason. Otherwise you'd be running 11.5s too.

The turbo is spec'd to 450-850HP. With 15% drivetrain loss, the max WHP is 722.50 and min WHP of 382.50. Honestly mixed about this since the total cost for parts is over $3,000 ($1,639.99 for Turbo and $1,200 for LAP3) excluding labor, the custom turbo installation and other small parts. Definitely cool but would be even cooler if it was done with stock turbos (not sure if it's even achievable or not).
TBH, i could probably see my self pay that 3 grand for this, but since i live in sweden that'll be 50% more. And Labor cost is alot more then in amerika.

I don’t see how this kit would only be $3k when lap3s other turbo kit is about $15k.

You’re only mentioning two of the many parts you’d need to make a full kit and $1200 is for their piggyback that won’t support the big turbo. The ECU tune which they haven’t released yet in USA will probably be $1500+. Maybe if you bought individual parts and completely fabricated it yourself you may get away with $5k-$10k, but this and all the other big turbo kits will likely be $10k-$20k depending on equipment.

Pure’s hybrid turbo kit will probably be much closer to the $3k-$5k range and then you don’t lose daily drivability and get the horrible turbo lag like All the big turbo kits.

Honestly, I just Google'd the turbo and the LAP3 pro tuner and put 2+2 together hah. I had no idea how much their other upgrades cost and I assumed (but didn't type) it'd take so many other parts to integrate the new turbo in the engine compartment. I really appreciate your input!

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...
More importantly when are they going to focus on cracking the TCU?

It's not 3 grand. I suppose turbokit would cost 6000-7000 USD. You need 2 exhaust manifold, downpipe, custom intake, water / oil lines and etc. Good turbokit with gtx35 turbo for Evo cost around 5000$, and with stinger it's 100 custom work. Hp isn't amazing considering total loss of low end power and no ability to launch the car (cause stinger launch control is...useless).

Hybrids would make same power or even more without low end power loss.

Do they have an anti lag setup for the stinger yet?

BTW this car is the car that has the 3.56s 0-60mph & 11.56s quarter mile on dragy leaderboard. (on stock turbos)
I guess he is aiming for better times with this new setup.

They already have TCU tune on the big turbos.

Does it change the Launch control settings though? I know they allow it to shift higher in the RPM range but that's all I've seen.

Not to my knowledge.
They remove some torque and RPM limitation.

Yes with that sort of power and a properly shifting trans should be easy 10s!

@xot1
Did he have the tcu tune on prior to the big turbo? Would make sense looking at his 0-60 time being able to hit 60 in 2nd gear.
He beats most my times by a hundredth or two but 0-60 by a tenth.
Looks like he is barake snipped as well.

At some point they'll have to start thinking about swapping to a stiffer transmission setup. The maximum rated torque for the transmission is around 700 ft/lb IIRC.

where did you get this info about 700 ft/lb

Kia Stinger Owners group on FB has been spamming me with this number (about 743ft/lb I believe) according to "internal Kia Engineering docs". We know the trans is in-house, but if we look at a similar transmission (ZF 8), it's max torque rating is 738 ft/lb (source).

I don't have the exact number for the Stinger's transmission, but something along these lines would definitely make sense.

The number I know is 578 lb.ft but no one seems to agree.

If your number if right, perhaps that's the reason we don't have more footage of the 600whp car ;)

Its just a matter of time. His setting is still fresh. :)
