Lap3 FTW

Already upgraded the spark with HKS plugs 2 weeks ago; gapped them too. & I’m not logging right now. Don’t find it necessary for me at the moment; if I find a good deal on a used one I’ll jump on it

I would highly recommend logging to see how the car is adjusting to the tune . Not throwing anyone under the bus but that’s where I fell short. Possibly could have prevented this situation of needing a new short engine block. Would hate for it to happen to anyone else.
Do we have other options that buying a $500 JB4 to log? & What was the reason for you having to replace the engine block?

Wouldn’t fuel tables need to be changed in the ECU itself though for extra fueling purposes? Also not 100% sure how it’ll work with the flex fuel sensor but I guess we’ll find out soon
If I'm not mistaken, I think the Lap3 tunes adapt to the cars fuel tables. I think the issue that this kit resolve is when folks were running E30+ without CPI that caused the car to go into limp mode. This kit should mitigate that issue.

I'm still learning so, I too, am waiting on more info.

Check out this thread I’m making for everyone to highlight my experience with the lap3 stage 1.5 tune . Again not throwing anyone under the bus just some things you should consider

Lap3 offer a wmi kit stage 4 kit which allows you to clean those valves as a plus and add more power down the line if you want to the 1.5 tune and can log with this. A lil bit more than jb4 but does more as well . About $750-$850 depending on options

Good read up on the difference between cpi vs wmi and which route is better for you by terry

yeaa, no. Not going the WMI route for obvious reasons (I have an asthmatic son & cannot risk him being exposed to dangerous fumes). This is the main reason why I chose to take the CPI/HPFP Kit route when that time comes.

There has to be a cheaper alternative than having to buy a $500+ device to log this car.

I agree. I’m not sure of any alternative hit waiting for someone to chime in

Ironically, I read through this post yesterday. Sucks to hear about your experiences with the car so far. Seems like the previous owner beat that car to hell then sold it off. Sounds like the person didn't care to cover their tracks either.

Luckily when I bought my car it was owned by an older gentleman who barely drove the thing. Bought my 18' GT1 RWD last year with ~25k miles. Haven't had a single issue with the car pre & post tune.

If I find a cheap secondhand JB4 ill snag it for the purposes of logging, but I'm in no rush.

Now you have me thinking if maybe there's a way that we can purchase the S4 controller kit by itself for the sole purpose of capturing logs of the car if we don't actually want the meth injection portion.

Going to reach out to Lap3 to see if that could be an option.

Great alternative as well. Let me know what they say about that

I have been using a Bluetooth OBD BAFX ELM327 and Car Scanner Pro app for logging.

That's the app I use and the same Bluetooth OBD2 module.
nice! I'm assuming if I ever needed to adjust the fuel trims i'd have to either buy the JB4 or S4 controller in order to do so?

I'm so sorry, I never seen a notification regarding your reply. You can use the JB4 for logging purposes but it can negatively effect the car if it's modifying data from the Lap3 ECU. If your fuel trims look off, you can reset the ECU by unplugging the ECU for 10min than plugging it back in. That'll rebuild new fuel tables as you drive, this recommended you restart the ECU each time you change fuel types.
