Hello everyone!

Hope this thread serves as a platform for others to build upon; sharing their experiences and impressions, as well as providing information to any newcommers looking to tune their 3.3 TT Stinger.

First and foremost I have to thank David Chung and the Lap3 company for providing excellent customer service and tuning products for the KDM community over the last 8+ years (at least since I've been around).

For my 2018 Kia Stinger I've been fortunate enough to have the Lap3 Pro Tuner the last year or so. To me, it was an excellent and sophisticated piggy back system, capable of reaching 500whp given the correct modifications.a straight forward install, and minimally invasive unit, you can use the base maps which include a 91, 93, E30 or methanol option.

Just recently I received the ECU tune from lap3 and I don't know how they outdid themselves. The pro tuner had great power but now, in comparison, the ecu tune is 100% smoother, faster and refined. To quote another user, launch control now is "violent." Boost is instant. And the crackle pop evokes childish giggles as you left off the gas pedal. I am so satisfied with lap3 in general, but even more so now that I have their methanol ecu tune.

How much is the tune and what are the details of what you get?

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...
Yeah...any more info on this?

But I can tell you

-it's a meth tune,
-with crackle pop tune,
-tune comes on a spare ecu so if you ever need to get your car serviced you can easily swap your own ecu back in your car.
-Unlike other tuners you DONT have to send your oem ecu out; simply drop in the lap3 ecu and it pairs permanently with your car.
-you must be a current lap3 pro tuner user

There’s a lot of details missing. For example, why would the Pro Tuner be needed if the ECU is tuned? Are they saying they require you to spend the $1000 on the Pro Tuner before shelling out the additional money for the ECU tune? That’s probably not the case, but those are questions that come to mind. I can see needing the tuner or JB4 for meth control, but outside of that, why would someone buy it when an ECU tune is available. I’ll come back once there’s more information.

The pro tuner controls meth injection as well as providing a logging function. The ecu tune was developed with the protuner/lap3 meth system so it works the best this way. Now, in the future there may be a possibility that you can use your own meth kit/controller but as far as I know currently pro tuner is being used in conjunction with the ecu tune.

Don't believe me ? Ask David Chung at sales@lap3usa.com

No one is saying they don’t believe you. I want to believe you since I’ve been looking for an ECU tune for awhile.

What’s being said is that your post raises additional questions. It’s cool if you don’t know the answers to them.

If the pro tuner is being used for meth and logging then a JB4 customer shouldn’t need the pro tuner.

I’ll send an email to David but these questions should be answered in a public setting for visibility.

For now the ecu is only available for pro tuner users. As far as it working with a different piggy back system I don't see why not; however, pro tuner is a current requirement for now.

That’s going to be a nonstarter for a lot of people.

There has to be a logical explanation as to why Lap3 is “requiring” people to have the Pro Tuner for a standalone ECU tune. That’s a $2000+ commitment.

I’ll wait for more information or clarity for what the two have to do with one another.

I agree. Just going off what information I know but again David Chung is the man to ask.

What if the customer is not running meth but just wants the ECU tune?
Can the Lap3 ECU still be bought?

As of now only a meth ecu tune exists.

But their pro tuner works like the jb4.

Spoke to David Chung. The ecu will be available to non pro tuner users.

I was misinformed. Currently it's only available to pro tuner users, me being one. In the neat future, q1 of this year we should see the tune for non users.
We are in Q1 now, so I guess the release is imminent. Sounds like they just got the capability and are using their current customers that are interested to get feedback. At the same time, probably working on different tune levels.

For those that have the tune, it would be great to hear more comments and even some performance numbers.

  1. How much boost is LC making?
  2. What is the LC rpm?
  3. Are snap, crackle and pops optional?
  4. What are the dyno numbers?
  5. What are the 0-60, 5-60, 1/4 mile times?
  6. What is the cost?
  7. More video of some runs and driving around?
