Lap 3 ProTuner (Without ISG)

After purchasing a Lap 3 ProTuner ($1878 AUD) I have now found out that it is not compatible with my model of GT Stinger down under.

The US model is fitted with ISG (Idle, stop, go), a 3 pin crankshaft position sensor. Australian models that don't have ISG and have got a 2 pin crankshaft position sensor, making the plug and play harness useless for these models.

As David from ProTuner said, I am the only one in Australia that has bought one. Any help would be muchly appreciated.

I think that the needed help should be coming from ProTuner.

If the extra ISG pin is not needed for tuning purposes (one wouldn't think so), then I'd expect they'd fab up a 2-3 pin harness adapter and airmail it down to him. It's not like it's a one off - they're going to need it in their package if they are selling into those markets.

I'm very annoyed now as this is the response that I got from ProTuner,"The offices in Korea have been closed due to lunar new year holidays. I will be following up once the office is open again"

Be patient with them! They are a great company and they will help you get straight. Its a simple issue to fix, and I can promise you its worth the wait! Pro -Tuner is definitely legit!! My brother works for Lexus and is a Master Tech for them, he is one of their best technicians in the dealership and has been there since dealer was opened. Well long story short, he and I were talking and I spoke on how fast the car was with Pro-Tuner on Mode-2.. he has been telling me its no big deal and he drives cars all the time,, he is not impressed with much. lol.. He had the occasion to have an all day event of driving the Lexus LC-500 on a track with other Lexus guys and he was referring to how impressed he was with that car. Well advancing forward here.. I was telling him how my car with the Pro- Tuner is faster then the LC-500 and told him, "just wait until you drive the Stinger"... My brother did my car inspection on my car on Thursday and all I can say is...he was blown away and could not stop smiling! I told him ..."I told you!".. he was really impressed!! And I only have it on Mode -2..It has more in it with Downpipes and meth kit, Mode-3

People's heads explode when they realize our Stingers are pulling 500+HP... I scared a Jeep SRT8 into NOT racing me on the highway when I pulled around him like he was at a stoplight for being an arrogant ass purposely cutting me off and revving in front of my car on the highway. Of course, that's because he was too busy revving to get on the gas, so he also looked like a total moron

Yes, I agree! People look at me like I am stupid when I tell them how fast it is! I really don’t care though... my girlfriend doesn’t notice anything to be honest! She thought the Stinger looked the same as my same colored SX Optima. Another funny event, she was in it one day and said to me...” what did you do to it?!” She told me it took her breath away and seemed much faster! Lmao. I didn’t reveal to her I had the Pro Tuner till later. Just like my brother was impressed!! He pulled out of the dealer and barely tapped the gas and it went sideways on him. Lmao. Tried to tell him! Now he is still thinking about his experience! Only people who have not ridden in a tuned Stinger will be saying ignorant comments, let them ride in it, they are speechless and like...WTF

For me, my friends and family know me and my pedigree with cars, so when I say it's fast, they automatically know that's the case, lol... It's more fun for me surprising (and often pissing off) other cars that just seem to think "it's just a Kia". Which, for the record, it is... but it just so happens to be a fast one

"We tried to look into the non-ISG crank sensor, but we weren't able to source it. Unfortunately, We'd need a specific vehicle to make the harness & mapping, which is not possible as it is not offered in Korea or U.S." - So unfortunately anyone Down Under can't run one. Sad but True....

Sad but True....

In all truth, it IS just wiring... It is likely someone can fab up something, instead. It won't be a convenient harness splice, but it would definitely work as all LAP3 would need to do is adjust their readings for Aussie Stingers from the crank sensor (and to be honest, I don't even think it reads the ISG data at all). In other words: all is not lost because wires can be spliced any which way a willing soul desires, lol
