Hello to all you venomous lunatics
I just received my JB4 tuner in the mail and my question is...do I have to replace the plugs before installing it or using any maps?

I think for Map 1 you may be ok. But most people will tell you do gap the plugs anyways. If you want to make more power just gap the plugs. There are a few threads on here on how to change your own plugs. My suggestion is if you will be taking the car out of the factory parameters, then gap the plugs. Most people also get a higher quality plug, or a spark temperature that would be better for making reliable power.

stock plugs are ass. stock tune kills them let alone more power. having a cracked plug is no bueno. map1 is the ONLY map you can even think about using with stock plugs. youll still have to regap them. bite the bullet and get hks plugs (expensive but last longer than denso) or get denso and make sure you change them at 12k or so

I just changed my plugs to the HKS. I have the JB4, but I have an appt on Wednesday for the dealer to do the HECU recall before I put the JB4 in.
I already have the fuel wire adapters wired to the JB4, and the OBD2 wire threaded through the firewall (but all tucked away out of site for now), so installing the JB4 should be a piece of cake.
Last thing I am doing is take a spare fuse box cover I got last week and attach the JB4 with bolts to it so if I need to remove it in the future, I can pull it all without a trace.
