I recieved letter today that says I should go to the dealer to a software update for the Knock sensor.
Anybody got the notice or had it done.

Thanks

What year is your Stinger? What engine?

I got the letter also, but in mine if refers to the models, one of which is the Kia Sorento that my daughter drives. Already had the update done several months back. Are you saying you got one specifically calling out the stinger? Our letter said 2 liter and 2.4 liter GDI engines in certain Sorento and Optima models I think..

I am not planning to comply with the notice. I have the ability to hear a knock.

The second half of the notice was for the Soul, Sorento and Optima with regards to engine repair warranty.

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...
Oh crap! So the stinger 2.0 motor is part of the software update too?

It looks like to me the update applies to 2.0 and 2.4 engines. I had some 2.0 Optima's and a 2.0 Stinger before my GT2, so I figured I got the letter because of them.

I got an email titled "INFORMATIONAL PAMPHLET – KIA ENGINE SETTLEMENT" with an attached PDF that basically describes what the KSDS is, but this was for my 2018 Optima. From the pamphlet..

Kia is also providing limited lifetime warranty coverage for certain engine repairs for
original and subsequent owners of the following vehicles equipped with a 2.0L or 2.4L
gasoline direct injection engine, provided the software update on the previous page
has been completed:
• 2011 - 2018 and certain 2019 MY Optima vehicles manufactured on or before
February 28, 2019
• 2012 - 2018 and certain 2019 MY Sorento vehicles manufactured on or before
March 6, 2019
• 2011 - 2019 MY Sportage vehicles
The lifetime warranty covers the short block assembly, consisting of the engine block,
crankshaft and main bearings, connecting rods and connecting rod bearings, and
pistons when damaged due to connecting rod bearing failure.

That's what mine said. No mention of the Stinger

I wonder why I got the notice. My is a GT2 and 3.3

I also got notice but didn’t look at it closely and now I can’t find it

I have a 2019 3.3 GT
