This guy is a big fan of the Stinger if you have seen his vids..pretty good comparo

Great review and two fantastic looking cars! :D

I wish both of them were stock with the same tires though... would also be very curious to see how a Stinger GT that was RWD would have taken on the S5...

I am also so curious how the aftermarket aero on the Stinger helped with the race...

:D :thumbup::laugh::cool:

I don’t think the aero helped and the S5 actually had CAI, so if anything the Stinger was probably quicker all around.

The cars were dirty. :P Other than that, well crafted video, very thorough. I'm not surprised: Stinger a little heavier, and a little beefier in power and torque; the rest are just minor variables.

Is the cost difference between an S5 and Stinger GT is significant? I would assume so since Audi's are expensive.

not that significant if you are good with a entry level s5 vs gt2 stinger for those who care more about the badge than features... s5 starts around where the stinger gt2 tops out (52k). A fully optioned out s5 tops out right around 68-70k though so it can grow.

Yeah the Audi S5 starts at around 53.5K

Given the Stinger's recent price increase for the 2022 model year, the price difference isn't great if you're comparing a Stinger GT2 to a base S5.

In Canada for the 2022 models you're looking at 15,500 more for the S5 and that's bare bones with the Audi before you start adding packages. If I had to guess you'd probably have to spend 20k Canadian more for the S5 to get the same equipment here in Canada so it's a big difference up here.

It's a Canadian youtube'r so the prices differ from the US a base S5 starts at about $66K (over 10K more than the top trim stinger) and if you option it up to match the Stinger you are well into the 70's

^^^Edit- what he said ^^^ lol

That's not as bad as I thought. Does a base S5 have all the extra features of a GT2?

Just rebadge it to a Maserati…

No. You have to step up to the top trim or middle trim s5 to get the adaptive dampers, 360 cam , adaptive cruise, etc. Of course the Audi does get you a few more features like the 3d cockpit cluster, matrix led with laser headlights etc but

Gotcha, makes me feel good I got such a great deal on my GT2 then.

Curious about the cockpit cluster.
No where close... doesn't even have a rear seat USB charger
That's a shame. If it has a 12v outlet suppose you could always buy a charger adapter.

You'll almost never find an S5 on a lot for under $60k from what I've seen, so that starting price doesn't mean much.

Not gonna lie I skipped through the vids, but on the rolling starts he could have manually downshifted to a proper rev range, not just stomped on it waiting for the downshift. The Audi will win every time using that technique because of its dual clutch.

The stinger actually still caught up and won on the second roll when he took off better

Actually the S5 has a traditional torque converter automatic (ZF 8 speed), but it is a fair bit quicker responding than the automatic in the Stinger.

Interesting! Being in my brothers S5 the transmission is so damn fast I just assumed.

Yep, zf is the big name in the game .. probably the biggest "upgrade" going to the BMW or Audi is the zf 8 speed in those . Kia/Hyundai 8 speed isn't bad , just doesn't have the years of experience under their belt yet ..
