I just went to the dealership for an inspection they should have done the day I bought the car and the trunk rattle came up in the computer as a recall issue. The service manager said they will be fixing all the cars on the lot so future buyers won't face this issue.

Glad you found the problem! I was pretty sure that your brackets were over torqued since I'd had my mechanic say it was important to follow the specs and steps in SA322 exactly. The fact that your repair didn't have the washers on one side is ridiculous. You might want to check with your Service Manager, not one of the Advisors, to see if they have a designated Stinger mechanic who has been to the recent, Stinger-specific training sessions. You may actually want to worry about that oil change!

I'm very curious about these "Stinger-specific training sessions." I know there is some online training content for mechanics but I don't believe there is anything beyond that.

They fixed it.

Only rattles, knocks actually, in cold temps. Zero celsius or so. Dealer applied the fix. Now it only knocks when temp is below minus 5 celsius or so. Making progress. I'll forgive for now.

Had the knock. Took it in and had the repair. Now the noise seems “tighter” but not fixed. They told me to bring it back by today. Will update!

Where is the option:
"I had noises, but I didn't have time to go to the dealership, so I fixed it" ? :p

i took mine in, and it still rattles. grrr...

I’m at the dealership again. Showed them the torque ranges just in case. Fingers crossed!!!

I had the TSB done on the rattle, it fixed it to about 95%. Now it only rattles over very hard bumps, which I hardly notice (listening to music most of the time anyway). Liveable -- wondering if I should be expecting perfection?

Just took it back in and showed the technician the torque settings that someone had posted. Took the bumpy way home and no rattle at all as far as I can tell! Torque Wrench. Whoda thot?

If yours is still rattling they likely did not torque the bolts correctly. Someone posted a photo of the install guide which had the required torque settings for the mount bolts (see below). I showed them to the technician, he took the car, came back after twenty minutes, and he confirmed that the bolts had not been tightened enough. I left and was able to verify that the rattling had in fact been fixed by driving along a very bumpy road near my home.

Thanks! Is this something I can do myself?

And my service dept. didn't even reset the bump stops to the correct distance as per the TSB after I had previously made my own adjustment. It would seem as though some service personnel can't read a simple instruction based on mine and others experience

Well, the issue is that over-torquing the bolt can be an issue as well that’s why the very specific range. Also, if they overtorqued it they could have damaged the replacement parts. If you do decide to do it and you damage the parts the dealership may make you pay for them.

If you do it I would back the bolts out and retighten with a torque wrench that has been correctly calibrated. You can sometimes borrow one at a local auto hobby shop.

Exactly. It’s 7 steps. And I had to show them the correct torque settings....

And the hatch rattle has reared it's head. Hopefully my dealer will work with me and fix it right. My Stinger was built in December 2017.
