Kia Stinger May Have Model-specific Emblem

The Korea’s second largest car maker has been going all out to improve its brand image. An official at Kia Motors said the company is reviewing various measures, including a separate emblem, to give more “distinctive premium value” to the Stinger, the carmaker’s most ambitious sports sedan.

Although a distinctive emblem doesn’t mean a stand-alone brand like Hyundai Motor Co.’s premium Genesis brand, the Stinger with a different emblem from the typical KIA symbol is expected to greatly help Kia Motors expand its presence in the luxury car market. Kia Motors has previously applied a separate emblem for its flagship sport utility vehicle (SUV) Mohave and large-sized sedan Opirus - no longer on sale - which looks like a vortex symbolizing a thumb meaning the best.

I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that the Kia emblem most of us voted on to swap the standard badge is an aftermarket design. I also wonder what Kia will put on there.

I think you're probably right. I couldn't tell if it was aftermarket, or just specific to Kia's sold in Korea.

I think this article is speculation.
There may be some merit from the original round K emblem. I guess we'll see. Now would be the time I suppose.

Good read and interesting story. I even like that official "K" logo they have. I think it's nicer than their newer "KIA" logo.

I also really like the KDM-restricted K logo. If they switch to another "badge" for the Stinger I hope it is something along those lines. Kia has to be aware of the aftermarket K 3.0 logos.

yes they must know about them. maybe something in between that old kdm kia logo and the 3.0 version. this kind of car definitely deserves to stand out from the crowd with a special badge.

I think something like that would be pretty cool. This reminds me also of the old Buick Riviera. There were no Buick badges inside or out. At least not that I can remember. It was just an "R". A script R. Maybe the Stinger will have an S. Or even Stinger the way you have it there in your mock up. I think thats more likely than the one sold on ebay.

I take this to mean that you suspect a stylized all caps "STINGER" is going to be the actual emblem on the car?

So the "current" italicized Stinger badge on the left rear will go away.
The KIA badges (front, rear, 4 wheels, steering wheel) will be replaced with a STINGER badge.
The right side rear badging will be as follows:

• Base Model: Nothing
• Base Model w/AWD: AWD badge
• GT Model: GT badge
• GT Model w/ AWD: GT and AWD badges

Doesn't sound too bad.

yeah this does sound pretty good. stinger as the main emblem instead of on the left side. i like bamm1s layout idea as well. that makes sense to me. i think the "stinger" name should be up front and center where it's most noticeable. no need for a kia badge.

now the more realistic side of me says kia will want their brand name all over this car.

My thought is at the very least this trademark means they can use 'Stinger' without KIA. I'd be content with whatever the gurus at KIA design come up with and live with it...I just want this car. I'm obsessed.

Those logos don't look too bad. Maybe have an S in there for Stinger. They look nicely designed so maybe something along those lines but, different.

I think it's smart for Kia to just concentrate on building good cars. They don't need a luxury brand and I don't think anyone will be ready for one for a long time. Just make the cars as Kias, fix that logo and call it a day.

I believe a more upscale emblem would serve the Stinger well. The current KIA logo screams cheap!!
