Hi all.

The lease for my truck just ended and so I decided to buy it out trade it on for another vehicle. I'm limiting myself to Carvana because they offered the highest price for it (a 33% increase above residual). I was looking for a sedan/wagon/hatchback, 4 doors, automatic, sunroof, heated front seats, remote start are all a must, since I live in Michigan. It also has to be red. I've owned white, grey, blue, black. Only thing I haven't tried is red. This truck is our only car, and I have two toddler kids.

So after a month of searching and watching too many reviews, it brought me down to this short-list:

* 2018 Kia Stinger GT2 $42,000
* 2018 Genesis G80 Sport 3.3T $40,000
* 2019 Genesis G70 3.3T $42,000

Overall, I am leaning towards the G70. However, for a short moment in time before the SUV we bought arrives, this car will be the only vehicle of the household. So this MUST fit 2 car seats in the back for now for a 5 yo and 2 yo. I am concerned that the G70 won't have enough room. Looking at the pictures and discussions online, it seems that way for sure.

2nd preference is a tossup between the Stinger and G80. The G80 just feels like a much, much better value, since it MSRPed at just under $60,000, is a better class of vehicle, and is selling at the cheaper price. I feel like I'm getting a bigger 'discount'. However, the Kia is more practical with the hatchback. That said, I am concerned about the long-term build quality of the Kia because many reviews have commented on the rattles/creaks of the Stinger interior.

What are your opinions on the matter? Thank you.

The G70 will be fine for car seats. I've sat in one and where it falls over is leg room for folks in the back seat. You'll have several years before that impacts you, unless you will need to drive adults around.

The 2018 should be completely shaken out at this point so just test drive it. See which one feels right for your needs.

I guarantee that the Stinger will have more noise, vibration and harshness than the Genesis cars. I also guarantee that the kids will be noisier than the car.

I can see why you would want the G70 and it would probably be big enough until the SUV arrives. I drove one and the interior is nicer and it feels more sporty than the stinger. If you think it's too small and it's between the G80 and the stinger, I would definitely go with the stinger, since it feels more sporty than the G80. The G80 is also 42k, so if it was me I would just spend a few grand more and get a brand new gt1. It's got everything you said you need. I personally never buy any used enthusiast cars.

I've got a G70 and absolutley love it. However the back seats are a bit cramped. So just depends on how important that is to you (you said you have an SUV coming soon, so I'm assuming you'll be alright using that for the car seats long term). Also, the trunk is not very large, so if that's a concern, the Stinger is your best bet. My buddy has a G80 - and while it's very nice, it's nowhere near as sporty as my G70 (my G70 handles like a go kart and takes off like a rocket comparatively).

Howdy and welcome. Not enough room for two toddlers, lol. We stuck THREE boys in the back seat of a VW Super Beetle, and only upgraded to a six passenger sedan when we had a fourth kid; and finally to a 15 passenger Ford Club Wagon when we arrived at nine kids (even though the eldest was out of the house by then). Car seats were little more than injected plastic tubs back then: we never had to wrestle with the ejector seats out of fighter planes that car seats are now. But this is just saying that the G70 will be plenty roomy for two little ones in armor-plated seats.

Stinger is FUN. Mine is silent extraneous noises-wise at more than 49K miles. I get mild creaking from the front sway bar: it's an Eibach, so, the fault is not Kia's. Most cars are relatively silent; you only hear of the complaints on here. That hatch is incredibly practical. You'll be glad you did. Of course, the particular vehicle you are looking at might be a monster of extraneous noises, only test driving will tell you.

My wife has the 2018 kia stinger GT2. We also bought a 2020 Genesis G70 and went in to look at the new G80 and ended up buying the 2022 GV70. My preference between the two cars is the G70. It is much more comfortable for me to ride in and there is plenty of room in the back seat for car seats. I feel more cramped in the back of the Stinger honestly. If I had to choose between the 3 cars you're looking at I'd go with the G70. If you were considering the new G80's i'd pick that but since you listed a 2018 i'd go with the G70 instead.

the G80's sunroof rattles just as much as the stinger's, as I imagine the G70's does as well. I went from a G80 3.8 to the Stinger, but I haven't been in a G70. Road noise is less in the G80, but it feels much, much heavier maneuvering around town. it was a very comfortable, extremely relaxing car and the rear seat is huge. you will have an easier time putting the kids in back there, no doubt. if fun is what you're after, head for the stinger or the g70, but the g70 wheelbase is 3" shorter than the stinger's, and all of that comes out of the rear seat legroom. Doesn't sound like a lot, but if your feet need them you're going to miss them.

G70 is too small for two car seats. G80 or stinger should be your only options from the three choices.

The 2018 G80 Sport should have the 3.3T engine, while not as sporty as the Stinger, it was being produced for longer and will be the quieter of the 2 while having a bigger interior. That would be the best choice of the 3, it was built as a luxury car and the trunk is quite large. Genesis didn’t hold back on putting in parts and equipment to make it drive and feel luxurious. It’s quick and the ride is great for being the sporty one of the G80 group. It’s more car than the Stinger, which shows in the equipment and sound deadening level. The Stinger is a great car but the G80 is the better built and equipped version of the 3 with the 3.3T engine.

I went with the Stinger over the genesis primarily for the hatchback. With a family having that big opening and more trunk room was enough to make the decision for me.

I was in a similar boat and chose the Stinger. I loved driving both the Stinger and the G70, but I'm 6'2" and my leg hit the center console in the G70 and the rear seat legroom is ridiculously small. The trunk is even smaller so I hope you don't want to bring anything with you. It was fun as hell to drive though! The Stinger is still super fun and much more practical with the hatch. It has the same premium stereo as Genesis and I found very little difference other than my Genesis dealership experience was far superior to Kia. Plus the included maintenance and pick up service. Not sure it would be included on a used Genesis though. The G80 is more of a traditional sedan but drive all 3 and see which you like best.

You didn't post the mileage for the vehicles, but I assume they're relatively low and proportional based on model year (the 2019 having the fewest miles on the odo).

If only car seats are of concern, get the G70 for all the reasons mentioned plus it being 2019/lower miles(?) versus 2018 for the same price. The G70 should have standard most of the equipment the GT2 has(?). From a reliability standpoint, I suspect they're all around the same build quality, and the drivetrains share many/most parts.
